It was Psycho for me. They held a 'showing' of it at my high school when I was, I think, a junior. Then my friend and I had to walk home through the woods to my house after. It was more of an hysterical dash than a walk. When the hubs was in hospital back in June it came on and we watched for a bit - it was... meh.Beebs52 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 2:53 pmThis is a movie... before watching I had read the book...that, while was well made is the worst. The Exorcist.
Watched it in the theater with college friends
Had nightmares and had to concertedly remove it from my head for two months.
Couldn't possibly watch again.

I'm glad it turned to meh for you. I'm too chicken to retry the exorcist. Which is weird considering how many creep movies, books I've consumed lo these many years.
Well, then

Not to mention your interest in, um, a certain genre of late. You might actually find the Exorcist falls into the "so horrible it's good category" at this point..
My other more recent disappointment was Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Absolutely freaking LOVED it the first time i saw it. Couldn't stop talking about it. My son got me the DVD on its release date. i couldn't wait to sit down that weekend and re-watch it. It was just .. meh. Then i remembered the giant margarita i drank with the gals at dinner just before watching it at the theatre. Apparently a liberal application of alcohol helps with some movies.

Re: Movies you thought were good, but really aren’t
it might not be a movie I ever thought was good but I got a comment on this. (granted I know I definitely have some that I thought were good but were not that good) actually I remember one Lion King. I think the issue was that they built it up so much that it basically would have had to be beyond perfect. it really did not help how difficult it was to get the movie due to that time periods 'vault.' but the teachers kept talking about the movie so my parents eventually went out of their way. I found it boring I was also a child so I had a short attention span but I found it boring. looking back on it there were some good scenes and a lot of my dislikes are more my preferences at the time definitely not liking the 'leave home' style stuff but more towards a slice of life like Maddelein.
originally I search for the original Space Odyssey thinking that space odyssey 2001 was a reboot made in 2001 and I thought my Internet just kept searching for the wrong thing. granted probably less than a year later I get a list of movies and this is on it.I wrote a paper about how boring that movie was,I do not remember every piece of that paper since I was a while ago though I have it on my computer. (well probably more like on a external somewhere) I actually got a decent grade. it was boring there was two minutes in which nothing began on the copy I had (like a black screen) and then we looked at still movie seen of a hill, I enjoyed the "du du" monkey scene and there was some decent stuff with Hal but should have cut a lot of stuff. even the director was going to take it out (The movie, not the scenes) after a week except some people who like the psychedelics (not sure the exact 'euphemism' this many years later) actually liked and watched the movie which is why it did not leave the theatre after a week. (Report) granted space odyssey 2010 I found decent.
