She was even able to attend, with me, the funeral of her fully vaxed friend (including booster).
Of course you realize your anecdote of one doesn’t prove anything, though I think you think it does.
The Cleveland newspaper had an ad yesterday from the Cleveland hospitals begging people to get vaccinated. Their ICUs are overflowing. Greater than 90% of the folks with Covid there are not vaccinated. Something like 97% of the intubated patients are not vaccinated.
This is being seen again and again across the country.
The vaccine does not make you bulletproof, but it is one thing we have seen that does wonders to keep people out of the hospital.

I often wonder the same thing about you, but then I remember that you're a professional Republican politician and elected official who's chosen to be deafened by the Fox echo chamber. So I'll try to explain it in words of few syllables with concepts simple enough to penetrate even the pea-soup fog generated by Fox.
Virtually everyone in the ICU, and almost everyone who has needed intubation, is unvaccinated. If those people were vaccinated, there would be lots of empty beds and fewer burned-out medical professionals. And the people who are now fighting for breath and their lives wouldn't have risked infecting other people before needing to be hospitalized. --Bob

I couldn't figure out what on that page is 11%. It shows ICU patents with COVID-19 as 20.34%. That's a huge increase over pre-pandemic numbers.

Oh, Bobbo, bless your heart, you have no place accusing anyone of having pea-soup fog. As an elected official, at least I remember what's contained in my oath. And, again, for those in the back, vaccinated people STILL PASS ON THE VIRUS.

You seem to have a comprehension problem. What that means is that if there were no COVID-19 patients, the ICUs would have just 80% of what they have now.

How is my comment reflective of a comprehension problem on my part? You just doubled down on dumb.
You said Covid-19 patients make up 20.34% of patients in ICU. And that's much higher than when [there was no Covid-19]. Yeah, like I said, before Covid-19 that percent was zero.
Then you double down and say that without Covid-19, ICUs would have less people, buy the amount of Covid-19 patients there now. Insightful!
Edit: Of course if ICUs are overflowing and beyond capacity, then eliminating the 20.34% of Covid patients will not decrease ICUs by that amount as some folks who would be in ICU now, but are not, would fill the demand gap.

I wonder if we have a breakdown of what the 80% of non-Covid-19 ICU patients have.

Dude, you have a rich fantasy life, I gotta say, not to mention, Olympic-level leaping to conclusions. I know some very fine doctors who are also very fine people. I know some excellent doctors who are assholes. And I know doctors who I wouldn't wish on anyone. I've had rather extensive exposure to a wide variety of Healthcare workers over the past 20 years, and like the population at large, they and their skills are varied. The God complex some of them seem to have picked up with their med school diplomas doesn't impress me, but I'm not easily impressed.

Even my limited medical knowledge tells me that for a "promised Covid cure" to work - people have to take it first.
