I going to buy tickets for the Ak-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix, AZ. They have what they call the "Corona Priemer Lawn". Somehow I think tickets for that section will be slow.

Is Purell one of your products? That’s one area of the economy that will do better (unless it’s made in China).

China Uighurs 'moved into factory forced labour' for foreign brandsSo logical for China: keeps factories open, protects citizens they care about, and solves the Uighur problem.

James Bond Film Release Pushed Back 7 Months Due to Virus
The release of the James Bond film “No Time To Die” has been pushed back several months because of global concerns about coronavirus.

MGM, Universal and producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli announced on Twitter Wednesday that the film would be pushed back from its April release to November 2020.

The announcement cited consideration of the global theatrical marketplace in the decision to delay the release of the film. “No Time To Die” will now hit theaters in the U.K. on Nov. 12 and worldwide on Nov. 25.

I wonder if Daniel Craig will push his hosting gig on Saturday Night Live this weekend back seven months as well.

The NCAA has banned spectators from the upcoming March Madness basketball tournament. The tournament will proceed as scheduled at sites around the country, but spectators will be limited to staff and family. This will have a big impact here in Atlanta, since the Final Four is scheduled here in three weeks. The Golden State Warriors have also banned spectators from its upcoming home basketball game against the Nets, although, in their case, they may be doing fans a favor by not letting them witness another Warriors performance.

At a press conference today, Governor Mike DeWine of Ohio announced that Dr. Amy Acton, Director of the Ohio Department of Health, will sign an order within the next 24-36 hours regarding large gatherings in the State of Ohio. I am assuming at this point that (among many other events) the Columbus (bridge) Nationals scheduled to start Thursday will be cancelled. Even if they are not cancelled, I am reconsidering whether it's responsible of me to go. --Bob

Princess Cruises (owned by Carnival) has suspended operations for sixty days; they had a couple of the ships involved with outbreaks and quarantines.

No word on if Carnival will suspend any of their other lines (e.g. Holland America and Cunard)

MLS has suspended its season for 30 days.

No word yet on what Major League Baseball will do (spring training games are proceeding as usual, but they typically have much smaller crowds). The MLB season is supposed to open on March 26 with all 30 teams playing that day. The Seattle Mariners are at home for the first week of the season, but they've already announced they won't play those first two series in Seattle due to local restrictions on large events.

The Ivy League doesn’t count as a national conference?

The NCAA committee has to sort out the bracket. I suggest putting teams in nearby venues (very different than usual) to reduce travel. Fans will be watching on TV anyway.

In a rather ghoulish way, this has worked out to Georgia Tech's advantage. Tech was put on a year's probation by the NCAA and banned from postseason play. However, they appealed the ban and, as a result, were allowed to play pending resolution of the appeal (which wouldn't be until after the conference and NCAA tourneys). This season, while Tech had its best ACC record in years, finishing fifth (out of 15 teams), some bad non-conference losses made them a longshot for the NCAA unless they won the conference tourney. So, they dropped their appeal and were banned from the ACC tourney, but with this cancellation, they didn't actually miss out on playing any games (they would have received a first round bye and not played until today had they kept their appeal).
