Well, you know, I didn't want to say "1999" because that's boring. For some reason the "thirty" part just slithered on my tongue and I typed 1939. Then I thought, yikes, maybe that's a bit omen-y, like too Come to the Cabaret My Friendish, but then thought, nah, Fanny would enjoy 1939 and if we're living in pre-war Berlin then we can use this post to document the world's situation and Fanny will be even more famous than she is.

Or maybe Fanny's just wicked old.
If one were to go by the photograph of the cake you posted one might get one's ass kicked. Or charred.

Barbecue!
Yup, I figure I'm pretty much toast at this point.

Germany invaded Poland on 1 September 1939. "Cabaret" takes place in 1931.

Okay. Party like it's spring of 1939...
It's the ambiance, not the history test. And I had to have a 9 in there.
Well, then

Nonononononono. Here's how you handle that kind of post:

1. Appeal to sympathy. "Ever since my brain surgery last month, I've mixed up my right and left hands approximately once out every thousand times I use them."

2. Minimize the mistake. "I said pre-war Berlin, I didn't specify. The Cabaret remark was a throwaway, since there are very few other pop culture references set in pre-war Berlin, and I know Fanny loves Cabaret."

3. Show that you knew the correct date all the time, by quoting Wikipedia.

4. Throw in some extra tidbits of trivia that you found while looking it up on Wikipedia, just to show off your knowledge prowess a little bit more.

C'mon, Beebs. It's really not that difficult.

I do not have a firecracker cake for the firecracker her own self, alas!

Happy birthday from me, TLAF, Boonie and Miss Denise (who is pissed because she didn't get top billing).
