#17. "Spear Carrier"
Debuted: 8/16/12
Sprots' word of the day observations inspired a handful of avatars this year, and this colorful piece came from her post on the "word" spear carrier. Tribal Skanki adorned in her vivacious war paint and multitude of tattoos and piercings was the first thing that sprang to my mind, and the second was poor ES boiling in a big pot for the tribe's dinner. Buster, also nicely colored up, was added to the avatar the next day to make this one even better. The Skankster is a true wild woman, and unless you don't want to end up with your shrunken head on her dog collar like Dr. Livingston Squirrel, you'd best steer clear of her jungle.

I liked the purple and yellow ankle bracelets because that color scheme has adorned past avatar feet.

I didn't mention it, but that was the inspiration. The purple and yellow combination have shown up in a handful of my past avatars since the Laker Socks....

#16. "Backyard Physics"
Debuted: 5/30/12
As ES and the gang have evolved over the years, he's picked up many new routines and running gags. This avatar pays tribute to one of his original quirks, throwing apples at poor defenseless dogs. The only all-silhouetted ES avatar ever, it teaches the physics of apple throwing as the projectile leaves the squirrel's paw and travels distance d to the top of the dog's head. Complete with equations, this is an avatar that I also adapted for
a design in my shop. Annie always appreciated the physics lessons she learned from ES, and now everyone can learn along with Professor Squirrel.

Yay! I've always liked this avatar, which probably is why I own a sweatshirt with this design, AND it appears on the coffee mug I'm using this morning.
You may use the generic "poor defenseless dog" to describe the hapless victim of Evil Squirrel's applied physics, but I recognize the silhouette of Annie's little sister.

I'll have to ask Sprots, but you should probably add a K before that Y for pronunciation purposes....

Hmmmm. Perhaps.
Google shows lots of hits for either version of the word, but they're not displaying the hit count any more, so I can't determine which version is more prevalent.
Being scientificky is never icky!

No nescience here . . .
If CaseyGrrl had designated a countdown, this would have been the only one in it.
If my countdown had gone to 20, this one probably would have made it, but it was a little too stark for me. Light 'em up with that sunchine, I say.

#15. "Save Our Bored!!!"
Debuted: 12/5/12
Occasionally, I feel the need to draw up avatars that make a definite statement, and this was one that unfortunately I felt compelled to do recently. With the number of people getting to the Bored getting smaller and smaller while the issues with the server were getting worse and worse, it was a deadly combination that was killing this place, and out of frustration and desperation, created this awareness avatar to accompany my plea to Dave to do whatever was necessary to fix the problems that were driving everyone away. The "won't you please help us" look on Buster's face and the tearful look on Angel's face are nothing compared to the look of absolute depressing desperation on ES's face which pretty well represented how I felt, and still do, as we continue to wait for the chronic ISE's to be eliminated. Hopefully this avatar will only become a reminder of a past era in Bored history very soon....

#14. "The Iron, Um... Lady?"
Debuted: 8/3/12
A link that would tell you what kind of Olympic athlete (country and sport) you most closely resemble based on height and weight led to this rather frighteningly adorable avatar of MBRS as the ubiquitous East German Olympian. Pumped up on roids and testosterone, she is the size of the entire Fierce Five combined, and somehow slipped by the judges on the gender test. The cute little bow in her hair may have saved her there, but we'd bet when nature calls, she'd be heading for the urinal next to ES. For the third straight year, MBRS's questionable sexual identity lands her a spot in the Top 20....

I was gone for this one (but I'm a South Korean fencer (re-checked--now a South African field hockey player...)) and I'm not particularly fond of powder blue, but I think the way the crowd is rendered saves this from "Meh"...

I am glad this one didn't stay up for long. This one made me sad.
Hopefully the Snuggle Bear is still intact in real life.

#13. "Deliquescing Sprots"
Debuted: 3/20/12
This visual definition of one of Sprots' early word of the day observations may very well be my most adorable Sprots and ES avatar ever. Upon figuring out what the definition of "deliquesce" meant, I figured Sprots must deliquesce every time she sees ES's cute little head peeking through her screen door. Here, with a little help from Photoshop, we see Sprots melt into a gooey puddle as she cradles the adorable little rodent in her arms. There were a few people who noted to me that this avatar reminded them of a mother and child painting. The Renaissance masters couldn't touch the love, affection, and scritchworthiness that this most excellent avatar just oozes.

I think Sprots would have to be verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry hungry before she would resort to eating ES, regardless of which side one takes in the matter of her affection towards rodents....

It oozes, all right, but not any of the things you mentioned. And after I was so nice to you yesterday. Ick.
