Of course, they're never going to extend an invitation simultaneously. So, if J! calls first, am I going to respond with "let me think about it for a while"? Of course not! It'll be "when do you want me to hop on a plane?" The moral dilemma would arise if WWTBAM called after I accepted a J! offer. Would I (or would any of you) call J! back and cancel their scheduled appearance "because I've got a better offer"? I couldn't do that.

Where's our Bored historian? Didn't we have at least one BB who actually did have that situation? Or am I remembering a hypothetical discussion?
christie1111 wrote:So more details on both? How did you feel you did in the J! audition?
I won't go into details, but I think it went reasonable well. I followed instructions, remembered to answer in the form of a question and immediately select a new category, etc. It was actually kind of scary realizing how many questions I didn't know while I was standing there and having to "stay clam". Of course, there were a few NYC-centric questions that really gave the locals a home field advantage. :P
I think if you need the money, your odds of winning a significant amount are better on WWTBAM. I would take J! in a heartbeat because that's the dream for me. Honestly, I only tried out for WWTBAM after I realized I wouldn't be close to good enough for J! for a good few years...

I take it you didn't mention that at your WWTBAM audition.

And where's your J! audition report? Wasn't that a couple weeks ago?

Yay Marley!

May WWTBAM call while you are on hold with J! Or vice-versa.

We really do like audition reports!
Wonderful news!

I want to see TWO taping reports in the years to come.

Dibs on PaF.

I've been silently rooting for you for years, as I hardly ever post here any more.

I am hopeful that the good karma of perseverance will ultimately give you an opportunity.

Yeah, I wish!

I'd trade the JTQ/WWOQ combo for a normal question and a BB PAF.

Yes. Just an attempt at ironically wistful hommage to a proud tradition of the Board, of which you are the most prominent example.

Well, some things never change.

I've got another Sad Card from SyndieBAM for my collection. :(

You can tell this is a new batch because they've got the new legalese on the bottom.
Game sponsor reserves the right to limit the number of times a person may attempt to qualify for the show to 5 times per year.
Note that they don't come right out and say that is the limit (as they did say at the auditions); the official rules just "reserve the right". So maybe somebody with personality might be allowed to keep taking the written, if that's a stumbling block. :|

Awww, I was thinking of asking amid all the WTG messages if you had actually gotten a card...

...so J! it is!

Well, we'll see. They might already have made a Sad Card-equivalent notation on my application form, but they use that polite "everybody's in the pool" fiction.

I know you're trying to be supportive, but this is one of those statements that spike my blood pressure.

No, it's my loss. I'm the one who's going to have to sit through another season, watching more contestants with great stories get on instead of me.
