Kids are at school.

I almost kept them home for part of the morning because we stayed up so late at my s-i-ls. JJ can stay up late, but unless Jackson goes to bed right at 7:00 to 7:30, he tends to have difficult days at school. SIL had her party start at 6, so normal bedtime wasn't likely going to happen.

But after talking with the husband about it, we decided to wake them up and ship them out. Gave Jackson a pep talk about working hard today, and made sure his teacher knew about his sleep stuff.

Jackson is such a bright kid, but boy howdy, it is hard to get him to do stuff he is not interested in. He wants to please his teacher, but some days he is just not into doing work all day. And then we get the dreaded color change. We had a good week last week, and tonight he goes to bed extra early. But we are just going to finger cross for today.

It's a holiday, but I'm at work anyway. The schedules here are ... interesting. I should be able to "float" the holiday and take another day off later (assuming I can find some time in a few months that isn't as busy).

I'm "off," paid, but I'm here working. Having hub in the hosp 14 days out of the last three weeks has killed my work stuff. It is nice and quiet though, as the Courthouse is closed and I'm fairly sure I'm the only one here.

Yeah, but to fix it will require even more construction. :P

I think I-35 in every city it goes through is in bad shape. Fortunately most of my travels have been/are east/west.

Absolutely. Fortunately, the construction we survived last year really has made two previously dangerous areas much, much better, so this helps improve my mood when traffic gets backed up through current construction projects.

It is my normal day off but we don't observe this as a holiday anyway. We did just begin observing MLK Day, though, so that's a plus. Seven paid holidays now. Below the average, but I think we get more individual paid-time-off days, so it works out.

I went in from 9-1230 this morning on my own time, helping with the new pagination system coming in June. I was scheduled until 4 but it was boring, and I agreed to work in Sports tonight to handle agate and answer the phones (big night of high school basketball). So that I will not bite off the heads of the callers, I need about a three-hour nap since I got up way early.

Yup. County worker, so I have today off. Next paid holiday is Memorial Day, but I have 5 vacation days to use up before my hiring anniversary date of March 23rd, so I should have a week off in mid-March as long as I don't have to use any for snow days.

The job is mega stressful and the pay is pitiful, but there is no doubt that the benefits and paid time off are excellent.

Actually, I got off work about an hour or so ago. We were pretty busy all day at school.
