I'm so glad that your young friend is stable, lily. My prayers for speedy and complete recoveries go to all the stydents who were injured and to all the people who love them. My whole heart goes to the families of the students who were killed.

I am angry that the unthinkable is no longer unthinkable and so easily categorized as "another...."

I'm very thankful for the good news. Still sad for the others, but at least can be hopeful for those who still have hope.

Wow. This sort of thing has an effect on all of us, even though we don't know anyone personally. For it to happen to someone you know..well, I can hardly imagine the feeling. Good to see the prognosis is more encouraging today. His bravery is indeed impressive. Good thoughts will be kept for his full recovery, while we at the same time mourn the senseless loss of young life..

I'm glad this young man is doing better. That was a horrible enough tragedy as it was.

Our best thoughts go out to him and you.

update on Jimmy. He's been released to go home. Apparently, news reports on he and another young man were getting confused. He was stabilized after blood loss from head wound, but nothing vital hit. The other bullet just grazed his shoulder, but no damage there.

He's staying quiet. the parents are more concerned now about his mental state. Very quiet. very unlike him. please keep the thoughts and prayers coming. His girlfriend while physically unhurt is in bad shape emotionally. They are keeping her on tranqs and quiet.

LILY, I just joined in and I am SO HAPPY for your friend's recovery. Head wounds are SO scary and can lead to so much suffering even if survival is assured.

It is stunning how national events affect everyone here in a personal way...

True - sometimes the full effects aren't known for years, if ever. Add to that the emotional damage done to Jimmy and his girlfriend, and they've got a lot to deal with. Thank God he's out of immediate danger. I sincerely hope they are open to the counseling I hope is being made available to them (and others affected). It really does help, if/when they are ready.
