OK, forgive me for getting all Oliver Stone here..

After the show last night I started thinking (cue the "Lost in Space" robot here.."Danger! Danger!"). I couldn't believe that Simon seemed so pissed either. Then I thought that maybe, for all the protesting he does about the Sanjayas of the series, he actually knows that these contestants play a big part in getting people talking about the show and tuning in, and as such, the show needs a polarizing contestant or two. He's no dummy, that's for sure. Kyle certainly is a very likable guy, but his voice is not in the same league as the others. I think it's possible that he saw Josiah as too unpredictable emotionally to carry the "Sanjaya" role, and saw Kyle as being able to handle the slings and arrows that the public would be sending his way. I believe he likes Kyle, but I find it hard to believe he sees him as a worthy "Idol". Rather than risk a Josiah mega-meltdown on national TV, he wanted to get the stable Kyle in therefor that polarizing role, but couldn't get Randy and Paula to go along. Now if Kyle was a looker, Paula woulda been with Simon.
It certainly had me scratching my head.

Maybe i have too much time to think>>>>

At least the guy from down here had his priorities right. He got over his disappointment of being cut by seeing the silver lining of not missing turkey hunting season.

That was funny. He was a likable guy. He sang well, too, sounded like George Strait. He would've had a little trouble on Disco Night, though.

TBone, I know you will spit up something, but I just got last year's Constantine CD and it's terrific. I thought of Firehouse, a local 80s hair band with two hits. I thought of Queen. I thought of Counting Crows. And that was only the first three songs. The lyrics thus far are nothing special, but they are not atrociously stupid, either.

He created his own label, called Sixth Place Finish Records, which name I find charming. His liner notes acknowledge he now understands it is damn hard work. The first cut has some scratchy in-your-basement sounds leading in, which I hope you like as much as I do.

I think there's a chance you can stand him since you won't have to see him.

I will send you samples, along with the Hanson CD that you are required to resist on principle but which will melt your heart. I bet large money.

It sucks the first time you hear it, and it's even worse the 20th.

Blecch.
I think that people should be dumped from the competition automatically after singing a Bryan Adams song.

Others he could sign:

Christina Christian
Carmen Rasmussen, who works for FOX
John Stevens, who lives on this Bored
Kellie Pickler
Phil Stacey

I really liked Kyle Ensley even though he really had a Broadway voice. I am really disappointed that he was cut from the competition.

It did, but because you made me burst out laughing with this first line..

I promise to listen with as open a mind as is possible for this Constantine hater. I will try not to picture his googoo camera-seducing eyeballs while listening, as that would surely close my mind.

Although I cannot say I am a Hanson fan, I always gave them credit for being a TRUE boy BAND, as they actually did play their own instruments rather than sing and do dance routines ala Backstreet N'Sync Boys. MmmBop WAS somewhat catchy upon the first few listens, but its ubiquitous nature rendered it nerve jangling.

I have actually read good reviews from critics on their recent efforts. Perhaps I will like them better now that their voices have all changed!

That last sentence sounds like a wisecrack, but I meant it in sincerity..I have never found much charm in prepubescent voices, with a few rare exceptions such as Michael w/the Jackson 5. I have apparently always been a Grumpy Old Man.

They sound like Maroon 5, but better.

I liked him as a person for sure..not so much on the voice, though. I really didn't hear much more than a good local theatre voice. He did have a good way about him, though.

You can probably hear some of his stuff on Pandora. I listen to Daughtry's music on there along with a lot of my other favorite artists. It's a good way to sample stuff.
