Same with the confidence pool I'm in. What a week! I bet I scored 50 (out of a possible 135).

Between being covered up with Senior Night stuff the last 3 days of the work week and going up to Oxford early Saturday to watch the Cam Newton show, I completely forgot to do my entry.

BTW, every team in the NFL has now played at least 8 games.

Current playoff standings:

NFC
1. (E) NYG 6-2
2. (S) ATL 6-2
3. (N) GBY 6-3
4. (W) STL 4-4
5. (WC) NOS 6-3
6. (WC) PHI 5-3
---------------
TBY 5-3
CHI 5-3

AFC
1. (N) BAL 6-2
2. (E) NYJ 6-2
3. (W) KCC 5-3
4. (S) TEN 5-3
5. (WC) NEP 6-2
6. (WC) PIT 6-2
---------------
IND 5-3
OAK 5-4

At the moment there are no division leaders that won their division last year.
No matter where you go, there you are.

As always, I am rooting for the NFC West to send a 7-9 team to the playoffs. They always seem to have a good candidate every season, and this year is no different....

And is the NFC West the worst division ever assembled in professional sports history? I don't just mean over one season (Like the AL West in 1994, which unfortunately we did not get to see play out), but over its entire 9 year history under the current NFL alignment?

In the 8 completed seasons since realignment prior to the 2002 season, an NFC West team has won more than 10 games in a season only twice! And there have been only 6 instances of an NFC West team winning double digit games in that span.... not even an average of one a season! 6 times in 8 years the NFC West has sent a 10-6 or 9-7 team to the playoffs as the division winner, and barring Seattle or St. Louis suddenly getting scorching hot, it's all but a certainty it will happen again this year....

And you know the teams in the other divisions got to be salivating when they get the NFC West on their schedule every 3 or 4 years. The cumulative record of NFC West teams in out of division games since 2002 is 129-215!!!! Only once (2003) did they have a winning record in out of division games, and that was a robust 21-19 showing.....

What a sorry sad sack of teams......

Getting a zero because I forgot to make my picks is bad.

However when it comes to SB appearances the NFC west has 2, east has 2, south has 3 and the north has only 1 and there are no repeats. In the AFC we have NE 3, Pitt 2, Ind 2 and Oak 1

We'd like to see an NFC West team in the Super Bowl every year! The very thought of it makes my hair all tingly inside!

Yeah, those zero weeks will definitely kill you in the standings. You can check my scores from about 3 weeks ago for proof.

New playoff standings:

NFC
1. (S) ATL 7-2
2. (E) PHI 6-3
3. (N) CHI 6-3
4. (W) SEA 5-4
5. (WC) NYG 6-3
6. (WC) NOS 6-3
---------------
GBY 6-3
TBY 6-3

AFC
1. (E) NYJ 7-2
2. (N) BAL 6-3
3. (S) IND 6-3
4. (W) OAK 5-4
5. (WC) NEP 7-2
6. (WC) PIT 6-3
---------------
MIA 5-4
TEN 5-4
KCC 5-4
JAC 5-4

Pretty scary to think that two of the NFC teams at 6-3 wouldn't make the playoffs.

EDIT: I made a mistake on the NFC rankings.
