I'm predicting that those first ten prize amounts accrue, so the $50k question effectively becomes +\- $71k if you answer all ten...

Does anyone really know they're shuffling the lower money amounts?

I can't even begin to imagine how that would work.

I'll give anything a chance...except shuffling prize amounts.

That seems stupid and unworkable.

On Buzzerblog, a comment in the story about changes to BAM (the author doesn't know what the changes are) says the first ten values do shift, but can't say anything more. Also, they took down the teaser video on Facebook.

Oooooh, the mystery deepens!

Are TPTB lurking here and were they shocked, shocked by our reaction? :P

How about this? $25K is still the milestone, but the shuffle allows you to reach it in fewer questions. The added difficulty would be the lack of those early questions to ease you into the rhythm of answering.

OR

The shuffle is the new lifeline, but can work either for or against you. Say you reach $4K and use it (it must be used before seeing the question). You shuffle the entire lower two tiers. You could end up with your next Q being $25K, but it also could be the $100 and then you have to go up the stack again with new questions and no more shuffle lifeline. Sort of a DOND system - $25K or $200?

I know why they took down the first one. The prize amounts changed in the new video:

$7.5k -> $7k
$12.5k -> $10k

Do they have a secret source for them, before TPTB post them on the website?

somebody on Facebook posted that a contestant gets two "jump the question" lifelines.

That sounds fairly plausible to me.

Me too!

Now you just have to predict which are the WWOQs.

Someone is reporting on facebook that you get 2 "Skip the question" lifelines that allow you to actually skip the question, but you don't get the money for that question and the dollar values for the first 10 questions accumulate.

Then I'm admiral of the frakking fleet. I think the changes are going to be good, if they're what I think they'll be. I have no advance knowledge - I'm speculating based on what's leaked out, and what I think would make for a more exciting game:

1. Randomizing the order of the first 10 questions
2. Accumulating pot for the first 10 questions (which will help define the walk away amounts)
3. Two skip the question lifelines (which will help determine the walk away amounts)

What's the most boring part of the show right now? Since they flattened out the money tree last season, it's the middle level questions. The original (mostly) doubling prize tree put enough reward in with the risk to get players to try and answer the next question.

The season 8 tree was too flat. It's nice that most players left with at least $5k, given they paid for their own travel. However, if a player was out of lifelines on $12.5k, were they really going to risk going for $15k, even if they liked the category? Viewers knew what the player was going to do ahead of time.

I'm a little torqued that I have to rewrite my Millionaire statistical database and reports, but I really like that this part of the game is going to be livened up. More player strategy = unalloyed good.
