Spoiler
1. Dolly the Sheep was cloned at Roslin Institute in what city? -- Dublin?

2. Dolly Parton refused to let this singer record I Will Always Love You when she was informed that they required a co-writing credit and part of the royalties. (It went on to become the biggest selling song ever by a female vocalist.) -- Whitney Houston

3. True or false? The Dolly Madison Bakery was named for Dolley Madison. -- True?

4. The Dolly Sisters were a popular dance act in the Teens and Twenties. I don’t think they there are much remembered now, but back in the day (1945) they rated a “biographical” movie starring June Haver and what other actress in the lead roles? -- Judy Garland (Meet Me in St. Louis)

5. What is Barbie’s full name (FM&L)? -- Barbara Too Thin

QOD: Hello, Dolly! was directed by this actor/singer/dancer who got savaged by the critics (the movie actually lost money despite being a huge box office success), but he was nominated for several awards, including a Golden Globe. -- I have a few inklings (Billy Wilder?), but nothing really solid, so I'll pass. I'm sure I'll slap my forehead when I see the answer.

5 Point Bonus: The next year he went in a completely different direction with this movie starring Henry Fonda and Jimmy Stewart as old saddle pals. -- another forehead-slapper, I fear

5 Point Bonus Bonus: This actress was never considered for the lead role because producers felt she wasn’t attractive enough, despite being the originator of the role and winning a Tony for her performance. -- Carol Channing

12/18 HELLO, DOLLY!

1. Dolly the Sheep was cloned at Roslin Institute in what city?

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND

2. Dolly Parton refused to let this singer record I Will Always Love You when she was informed that they required a co-writing credit and part of the royalties. (It went on to become the biggest selling song ever by a female vocalist.)

ELVIS PRESLEY

Devilkitty must have watched the same show I did (I think it might have been Biography?). After she told Colonel Parker to get stuffed (in that sweet way she has), he said something about 'too bad, because you could have had a hit'. 50372393833 covers and 485702567204833 copies sold later, put that in your pipe and smoke it, Parker! (Whitney Houston pushed it over the top of the most copies ever category.)

3. True or false? The Dolly Madison Bakery was named for Dolley Madison.

TRUE Oddly enough the founder of the bakery had a fascination with Dolley Madison. I don't know if he spelled it differently for copyright, aesthetics, or he wasn't that fascinated. Ha!

4. The Dolly Sisters were a popular dance act in the Teens and Twenties. I don’t think they there are much remembered now, but back in the day (1945) they rated a “biographical” movie starring June Haver and what other actress in the lead roles?

BETTY GRABLE June Haver was from my Dad's hometown of Rock Island, so we always watched all the Haver pics.

5. What is Barbie’s full name (FM&L)?

BARBARA MILLICENT ROBERTS

GENE KELLY

CHEYENNE SOCIAL CLUB Great movie that I haven't seen in a long time, I need to see if it's on DVD.

5 Point Bonus Bonus: This actress was never considered for the lead role because producers felt she wasn’t attractive enough, despite being the originator of the role and winning a Tony for her performance.

CAROL CHANNING

Saucy's answer of Ethel Merman was a good guess, the role was originally written with her in mind.

With all due respect to the lovely Miss Fantine, you did mean "Roberts," right?
There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.

Why, yes, yes I did. Littlebeast is using his miracle powers to go in and edit my posts, obviously. Ha!

You realize I do that every once in a while just to see if anybody bothers to go back and read the answer, right? RIGHT???
