[quote="fantine33"]Hey, they can't all have clever titles! I know, I know, like any of them have been that clever so far. Ha! Both weekend QODs will be open until Midnight Mountain tonight.

12/10 BIRTHSTONES

There are a lot of different birthstone designations, but I am looking for the modern birthstone for each month, as established by the ANRJA in 1912.

Spoiler

1. Amethyst (the purple one)
2. Topaz
3. Peridot
4. Garnet
5. Emerald

QOD I may be shooting myself in the foot, but since I was born in Dec and I hate Turquoise but I love Tanzanite, I'll go with Tanzanite.

5 pt Bonus would be December

Bonus bonus dunno

editing to say I've been out of town with no computer. Just answering for my own sake. I know it won't count.

This is the only one that was 'technically' closed. But since I didn't post the answers or score it yet, I'm taking your answer. Because you are a dedicated QOD player and shit happens. And because you didn't assume or demand that I would. Because you're a BoB. Ha!

PS I'm not scoring yet, because I seem to have misplaced my QOD folder! So it looks like I'd better get my bahonka in gear and write one for tomorrow just in case I can't find it (I KNOW I didn't delete it, so it has to be here somewhere.)

Thanks, although I didn't read though the thread and didn't know you hadn't done the scores yet. I do appreciate it, but it's not necessary.

Attending a Bocelli concert isn't exactly shit, but it was fun and enjoyable. The trip was really a total of 48 hours including travel time and it was just too damn much trouble to take my laptop and then pay 9.95 a day to use it for less than 30 minutes.

Nice questions though & I do learn stuff. I was so sure on that basketball q that Pete Maravich was the answer to Mr Clutch. Can you tell I'm from the south? I had no clue the image on the logo was from a real player.

Once I figure out what a tiger has to do with a war eagle, I'll make that a question!

I wasn't impugning your trip, I was using the phrase in its more universal, Zen sense.

I wouldn't pay 30 smacks for 90 minutes of internet, either! Those are some pretty steep punkins.

I'm going to do the answers and daily scores just so I don't fall behind. I just won't update the monthly standings until I find my spreadsheet.

I know you weren't knocking the trip...I dint mean to imply such.
The 9.95 would be for a day, but I figure I would only actually use it for 30 minutes plus or minus a few, so it's just not worth it for a short trip, not to mention all the trouble it is to go through airport security with the damn thing.

Tigers and War Eagles have nothing to do with each other. War Eagle is a battle cry, not a mascot or a nickname. Here's a link with a brief explanation.

12/10 BIRTHSTONES

There are a lot of different birthstone designations, but I am looking for the modern birthstone for each month, as established by the ANRJA in 1912.

1. February

AMETHYST

2. October

OPAL

3. August

PERIDOT

4. January

GARNET

5. May

EMERALD

Of course, my birthstone is one of the most expensive. When means I only have one and the quality is crap.

Several years ago, my sister and I got my mother a mother's ring for Christmas. I didn't want the standard stones in a row and found a design where two big stones and three small stones were intertwined, so we made the big ones my parents and the small ones us kids. When they asked if we wanted real or simulated, they said the price really wasn't that much different unless we had a July or May birthday in there. One ruby and three emeralds later, we went for simulated (my brother is the only cheap date among us).

QOD: In 2002, a stone was added to the official birthstone list, for the first time since Citrine was added in 1938. What is this stone?

TANZANITE

5 Point Bonus: What is the designated month for said stone?

DECEMBER Bye bye, blue zircon!

5 Point Bonus Bonus: Sapphires come in all the colours of the rainbow, except one. What is it and why?

Red corundum is a ruby and all the rest is sapphire.

And nitrah gets 5 points in spite of himself!

I know you weren't getting on my case, you're "Bocelli isn't shit" made me laugh, so I just wanted the opportunity to equate Zen with shit happens. Ha!

I was making a joke about the Auburn thing. More of a joke about me not doing anything I have to research (even if I should), so I appreciated you liking my questions. But I actually am going to read your link!
