I am very interested in why I am not jumping all over the idea of taking on doing something that makes me feel proud every day.

I love feeling proud and yet the idea of saying I will be doing something every day that will have that affect on me seems way too daunting.

Like I am small or something.

I am still engaging in the conversation.

How about starting small, like putting your change everyday into a jar and then at an interval, send it to a charity you would be proud of, like one to end childhood hunger in America? Or something like that.

I haven't thrown either computer out the window.

This is the fifth time I've had to reboot today, so it's a near thing.

I have kept my cool and not yelled at anyone from the insurance company while trying to get an authorization number for my breast MRI.

I really am proud of that.

I would be too!

I haven't yelled at anybody since the election and some minor bureaucrat patronized me in an effort to make me do what he wanted. Very bad idea.

I didn't post on a public message board about anything I've done of which I was proud, because that would be too much like bragging.

Pea, it is OK not to make it happen every day. There is something about rarity and uniqueness that makes a thing special. But christie's suggestion is a way to close a day with commitment to a future project, if you like.

Also, for anyone who is concerned about pride being a vice, I wrote a 15-page paper once about how appropriate pride is a virtue. It is what makes us want to do good things again. Paul was warning us about vanity rather than appropriate pride.

If anyone with a pet is looking for something to feel good about, I've discovered that my vet clinic (and I assume most others) has an ongoing bill for rescue animals. My animal hospital took in nine puppies from a puppy mill a few weeks back, and they are still paying off the food/examination bills. So when my bill for the Dubster was $689 last week (yikes), I had them put the odd $11 into the puppy mill fund. Like that. Also, they always need newspapers and towels, so we can set those aside to take to them whenever there's time.

Pride, for me, comes from doing something or being someone that is a stretch for me, not something that is 'natural' or 'no big deal'. I want to be someone who acts and becomes someone beyond who I am now. I want to be that every day.

Given all of that - I still am not taking it on - it's a confronting thing for me. I also say I am someone who loves doing things that confront her - so - another wtf? as to why I have not taken on doing something every day to make me feel proud.

Giving to charity will not make me feel proud. It is a 'no big deal' thing for me. I know for some, given their circumstances, it is a stretch and would make them (or could make them) feel proud.

I know speaking with the insurance people knowing that they are my partner in getting my health concerns addressed was a stretch for me. They were that, interestingly enough.

Also - just having the question in front of me is revealing.

There is no statute of limitations for murder, at least not in any state I've lived in. I'm just saying if there's no corpus, you can't prove a thang. Besides, I think my preferred method of dispatching someone would be more subtle. Like boring them to death.

kewl!

I didn't think you'd have a problem with it, especially in this circumstance.
