Re: Transcript 03/03/2009 Kevin Baker
Despite becoming a llama, Kevin's local newspaper has given him a rather lengthy article:

Turns out he was a reluctant auditioner.
About his audition:

Turns out he was a reluctant auditioner.
But he had played the Phone Game!Kevin said it all started back in August when his son-in-law, Lenny Zenk, asked him if he wanted to try out for "Millionaire." The show was holding tryouts in the Twin Cities.
At first, Kevin said he wasn't interested. Lottery ticket-like dreams of 'winning it big' just aren't his style.
"I'm kind of happy being right here in beautiful downtown Almena-or is it uptown?" Kevin quipped.
But prodding from his wife, Roxanne, and others persuaded him to pursue the opportunity.
So you passed Round One and didn't get a call-back for Round Two? You had to keep trying, you know!Kevin said that back when the show was brand new and Regis Philbin was the host, Roxanne and Brandy had convinced him to call the toll-free number that was aired soliciting contestants. At the time, Kevin participated in several rounds of over-the-phone screening and was eventually told that he had qualified to become a contestant on the show. He never received a callback from the producers, however.
About his audition:
Another What Else hook. What a surprise.Semi-finalists then took part in face-to-face interviews with producers, in order to gauge how the potential contestant might fair in front of an audience. Kevin said he is no stranger to performing, since he has played piano in many bands over a 40-year period. After cracking some jokes and getting some laughs from "Millionaire" staff, Kevin was confident that he had done all he could do to win a spot on the show.

Others have done better, but taken their experience far worse. There was something a little special planned for Tuesday's "Millionaire" episode, however, at Roxie's Bar and Grill. Kevin said he expected to have a crowd at his bar for the 4 p.m. show, which he will record off TV. He said he planned to watch his episode again that night at the bar and maybe another time in the future if anyone wanted to watch it with him.
