Rush was giving the Repubs hell today for talking hope. He said he had four words for Obama:

"I hope you fail."
I won't defend Rush, but the expectations from a lot of people are so high that he's almost bound to fail. There's a lot of people out there who think that within months they will have good, secure jobs with good benefits, be out of debt, and be buying a house, a car, and whatever other goodies they want. They actually believe that Obama is going to do something to make all that happen sometime in 2009.

If the economy does not turn around, Obama will be a one term President.

I, for one, am hoping the economy turns around.
And let's get a quick show of hands of those who do NOT want the economy to turn around.
I am wondering if I need to raise my hand.

You see, the economy is these parts is not that bad. (Even better around Kusch's neck of the woods.) Unemployment is up, but not much and nothing that serious. People knew enough to not take out adjustable-rate mortgages, and fewer lenders were taking those risks. Therte are no massive layoffs. Overall, especially compared to elsewhere, things are not that bad.

So, here in the Heartland, a turn-around (or 180) of the economy could be interpreted to mean worse economic times.

I consider my self sane. I know some of you don't.

Of course I want the economy to turn around. And it eventually will. Smart, energetic entrepreneurs will figure out how to make money and will get it done.

However, here is my struggle.

Obama, at least based on his campaign, will resort to what I consider socialistic methods to turn the economy around. They won't work of course. Spending money on non-productive activities is, well, non-productive. However, like I said, smart, energetic entrepreneurs will figure it out and slowly the economy will come around.

I don't want Obama's socialist policies to get the credit.
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.
~~ Thomas Jefferson

War is where the government tells you who the bad guy is.
Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.

Reagan and Bush Jr. both tried to spend us out of recessions the same way that Obama apparently is. The only difference is that Obama is probably going to dole out the gravy to a different group of businesses than Reagan and Bush did.
