I am so sorry. I know what you're going through: my brother had ALL ...

They gave him VERY little chance (he got a blood infection that landed him in the ICU and on a ventilator) but he pulled through to live ... and to try out for Millionaire.

Our prayers will be with you all.

Weird. My main reaction to this is not sadness but anger. It pisses me off to know what she has gone through to beat the crap out of that illness, what Zoe has had to face at such a young age, what your whole family has faced. I'm pissed that Deb has to do this again. But I'm hoping she's pissed as well. And that she will rise up and kick its cowardly ass again. She has to. She WILL.

She has a very formidable support group. That makes all the difference. I know you are all frightened. But she will win.

She WILL.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister and this evil disease. I hope she beats it back with a vengence! Two years ago one of my badminton players fought the hard fight against this disease, but sadly did not win. He was only 18 years old. It was one of the saddest things I've ever experienced. I hope your sister turns it around. My thoughts and best wishes will be with her.

I would like to encourage any of you who have not registered to be a marrow donor to please do so. The badminton team holds an annual marrow drive in Jon's honor. To date we have registered almost 200 people. It is a quick and easy process and the registering does not even require needles, just a cheek swab! You can find a drive near you by going to www.marrow.org.

Bixby17 wrote:As many of you know, my sister Deb was in remission from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia after receiving a stem cell transplant in February 2006. Unfortunately we received news this afternoon that she has relapsed. Figured you guys would want to know. I do not have any information from the doctor if it is the same form of leukemia or something different.

She is in the hospital ER now in Houston receiving platelets. It sounds like she will be receiving more treatment and another stem cell transplant. She is frightened and determined. She suspected that she had relapsed so this isn't a complete shock.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. You can give her some support by leaving a message in her blog comments at http://www.debutaunt.com .

I wish I had come back here with something fun to say. That's always a much better deal.
I'm so sorry to hear this, Bix. I hope there is better news in her future. --Bob

This sucks, big time.

Deb and Zoe, and all the family, are in my prayers.

Lots of good thoughts and prayers.....

Deb had her first round of chemo before Thanksgiving but had a difficult time recovering her blood cells. Last evening, her lungs collapsed due to an infection and she is currently in the ICU in a medically induced coma to see if they can reverse the infections and to help her breathe.

She is resting, and now we wait, and watch and pray.

I thank you all for all the love and support you have provided her, Zoe and our family. It means more than you will ever know.

God bless,
Steph

Deb remains in our prayers.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Time for Deb to go all Chuck Norris on cancer's ass.

She can do it. She's a warrior.

Prayers doubled x 10 from here.
