Re: speaking of matriculating::A question for yins
I thought we were just supposed to go with most famous. If we're adding marginal athletes, I'll toss in Scott Johnson (not really marginal because he has gold medals but not famous because he's a gymnast) and Roc Alexander, current nobody with the Houston Texans (at least he was last I heard, ha!).
I think Joe Kleine (former #1 draft pick for the Kings and Olympic gold medalist) went to my school as well, but not all the way through 12th grade.

Those are two.
Since Jeemie and I went to the same high school, his answer and mine are the same. But I get to add "Jeemie" to my list...

I thought you once said that you went to the same school as Michael Keaton (Douglas). I'd think he would probably trump Dennis Miller and definitely trump Ron Paul (is that Mrs. Paul's husband?).KillerTomato wrote:Jeemie wrote:Dennis MillerBigDrawMan wrote:Who is the most famous graduate of your high school(excepting you)?

Nononono, I was once semi-related to Batman. His sister Joyce was married to my first cousin, Pat.
But Keaton went to Montour High School, about 10 miles from mine (and Jeemie's).

I'm still giving myself credit for having a good memory, not to mention actually paying attention to what you say in the first place. I'm impressed, too!
And I maintain that this would have made a fantastic "story" had they chosen me for Movie Week on a certain TV game show.

I couldn't find anybody famous graduating from my high school. Here's probably the most famous person graduating from the same undergraduate college I did:
"As an educator, it has been my conviction and message that teaching is the preeminent profession: it nourishes all others and the total of human endeavors.
"The best teachers will be men and women from all cultural, economic, racial, ethnic, religious and family backgrounds. Teaching potential flourishes abundantly in all segments of a multicultural society. It needs only to be discovered, motivated and developed by a society which agrees that the best should teach..."

The most famous alum from my school is probably Chris Bruno (Another World, All My Children). My dad attended high school with Jon Voight, who actually remembered him at their 50th reunion two years ago. Alan Alda also went to the same school, but was a couple of years ahead of them.

Slim pickings on my side:
Mary Lou (Cookie) Metzger from the Lawrence Welk Show
Boonie does much better. He went to Philadelphia's Roman Catholic HS for Boys:
Mike Bantom, Olympic medalist in hoops (the 1972 botched game with the Soviets)
Marvin Harrison of the Indianapolis Colts
Charles Fuller, 1982 Pulitzer Prize winner for A Solider's Story
AND
John Facenda.
Who?
John Facenda, whose "Voice of God" narrated all of the early NFL Films material and the Campbell's Soups commercials.
So, you may not know the name but you certainly know the voice.

Second to Foxx would probably be Robert Dennard.
Or maybe Cynthea Rhodes, who was a member of the 1996 US Olympic Track & Field team.
Foxx & Rhodes were classmates of mine.

Kauai High School is pretty small.
I tried googling, but didn't come up with anything.

My dad would have Arnie Palmer & Mister Rogers from his high school. And Andy Warhol was in his class (1949) at Carnegie Tech (now CMU.) Andy graduated from Schenley High School, which Karen attended. And we can see his house from our front porch
One of the kids in the current High School Musical movie graduated from CAPA a year or 2 after Leah, but I forget his name.

Bart Conner - went to our sister school (in the Chicago suburbs), and was one year ahead. Watched him perform at our meets many times. Very exciting, watching this star-in-the-making.
I thought I remembered Mitch Gaylord at those meets, too... but google says he went to H.S. in CA. ?

I mentioned this thread to TLAF on the phone last night.
She reminded me that she went to HS with the Campanella sisters and their baby brother, Roy.

Mostly athletes.
J R Reid

DJ Dozier

Steve Jolley (Yeah, he played soccer, but he was a first-round pick and I used to babysit him!)

And a singer, Lady Miss Kier (or plain ol' Kier Kirby)from Dee-Lite

That's funny! I have a connection to a soccer player too....
Steve Trittschuh, whose brother Scott played on my little league team (He didn't attend my high school though oddly enough):

I knew there another player besides Mr. Mia Hamm from my jock school. Evan Longoria who is NOT Mr. Eva Longoria though he's been playing like her.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

BJ Upton is local, but another city. We have a ton of MLB players from around here, but not my HS....

At least Evan will no longer be able to threaten Granite City native Dal Maxvill's World Series record 0-22 in 1968......Boring Mini wrote:It cracks me up every time I see his name!ulysses5019 wrote:I knew there another player besides Mr. Mia Hamm from my jock school. So did you just Google your high school?
Just wondering if there is anyone note worthy from my high school.
