Ody ALWAYS smells purty!!!! He is an elegant classy guy.littlebeast13 wrote:silvercamaro wrote:Good choice. Furthermore, your explanation of "the sweet look of surrender from Sprots" made me laugh as much as when I first saw the avatar.
You may return to your pillow at your convenience.
I can't.... the boys are due at the vet for shots this afternoon, and they are going to smell purty when I take them there.....
Pray for me....

Ody was glued to the inside of the pet carrier when I took them there. I had to pry him out with a crowbar to get him on the table....
Spilly was his usual outgoing self. Sorry Saucy......

Yay! for La Sprotsie Bella! Although I don't think you had drawn ES fishing at SHM yet because Sprots was just talking about selling her aluminum boat when I started talking about Venice and gondoliers and whatnot. Then you drew Gone Fishin' and I chastised you for drawing the aluminium boat avatar instead of the gondola one that **I** wanted.littlebeast13 wrote:
It was some combination of the discussion of a heavy rainstorm and the avatar of ES in the aluminum fishing boat that made the honorable mentions list that caused the image of ES steering a gondola with Sprots in to to spring to mind. Fanny hounded me for weeks to draw it, but it finally took a morning when I knew I needed a new avatar, but had no current inspiration from any Bored or personal events to make a new one, that I finally placated her. Thank goodness I did.... this one's a masterpiece.
Your are a bad influence on my Annie. When we met her 5th grade teacher this year, the teacher said something about "5th graders know everything about the school by now". I replied, "Well, Annie tells me she knows everything", and Annie corrected me "No, Daddy, I said I'm always right". Now I know where she got it.FannytheBull wrote:snippage...
If you'd just accept from the get that Fanny is Always Right, things would go much smoother......ha!
Happy birthday, Annie!Rexer25 wrote:BTW, Annie turned 11 yesterday. Frightening on so many levels.

After you mentioned it, I was going to look back and see how often I had put ES in an avatar where you couldn't see his face, but just went over my mental list. The only one I came up with was "Lampshade ES" from the olden days. Forgot about ES in the Charlie Brown costume.....

This was one I knew had to be on your list, because you commented to me how you could hear the "Joker... JOKER...... JOKER!!!" thing (Only replaced by es, ES, ES!!!)
FannytheBull wrote:The Shining - ES on the Big Wheel was enough for this one to make the list....
As much as I wanted to include this one, by the time I got to it in my avatar album, I realized it was hopeless to add any more to my first cut list that had no chance of actually surviving the second cut. It even has a funny story, because "The Chatting" was posted the day after I announced a contest for other BB's to come up with their own idea for the next day's ES avatar. I chose instead to be inspired the usual way and made Vandal the unintentional winner.....

And this one, of course, was inspired by the Mark John Boy incident! Wow.... was that really a year ago already????
Can't wait to see the Top 10........

I hope we'll have the Top 5 before I wake up this evening. Even though I already know your #1, I'm sure there's still at least one in your Top 5 that didn't make my list. I still have one in mind that I figured had to be on your list which you have not revealed yet.....

League Night
Criminally overlooked. Okay, I realize that I'm a bit partial to it because of the subject matter and the Hello Kitty ball, but there are so many good things in this seemingly sparse and simple scene:
House shoes!
Feet lined up perfectly together behind the first set of dots in preparation for his approach.
Studied look of concentration/anxiety/snake eyed mysticism in anticipation of a strike
Hands up to the chin, elbows in, ready for the push off.
Had ES been sporting one of those pussified wrist braces, this might have taken my #1 spot......

#1 Avatar That I Can't Even Think of a Name For Other than Back of a Truck:
I was quite impressed when this one made an appearance and I can't even remember whether or not there was a particular reason for it. Funny that somebody who pays so much attention to expression, details and form/spacing would choose a #1 that really isn't even about the art.
I don't even know if these portraits were drawn specifically for this avatar or just gleaned from the archives, and it doesn't even matter. I thought it was the idea itself that was the homerun on this one. But the portraits, sparse as they are, do have a charm all their own. Stripped down, no gimmicks or accesssories, just clean lines and good form.
Then again, I'm always fascinated by the transitional phases that those tri-strip adverts go through on the back of delivery trucks and basketball court scoreboards. I'm obviously easy to entertain.....
