Frank did:

That's because you're thinking of the wrong David (Dave) Thomas... just like you guys were thinking of the wrong Felix Adler.
I'm amazed about Adler, but there must be lots of folks named David Thomas.

57. Victor Mature + xxxxx yyyyy + 13. Albert Brooks = Victor xxxxx + yyyy Brooks

One goes with JERRY, the other goes with DADDY or NORTH
Requesting confirmation of this.

I found that Daddy Warbucks was played by Victor Garber in a recent version of Annie, but can't find anyone with first name Garber.

Is there something special about the mystery person (other than the fact of being the mystery person in this puzzle) that makes him/her different than the other middle of trio people?

My first thought was that it's someone who has the same first and last names, like Ford Maddox Ford.

The mystery name does connect VICTOR Mature and Albert BROOKS, but neither name goes with Porter. You need to swap out Porter with one of the associated words in a trio that was found very early in this game.
I think this implies that the match for David Thomas is one that doesn't work for the Wendy's guy (so not DADDY) and not the one to be swapped with Porter (presumably JERRY, but conceivably something else). So it's got to be NORTH.

Oh, duh! It's Dave Thomas the SCTV actor! Take off to the great white NORTH!

So it's come down to this:

57. Victor Mature + xxxxx yyyyy + 13. Albert Brooks = Victor xxxxx + yyyy Brooks

One goes with JERRY, the other goes with DADDY.

Still no clue, though.

Well, I can tell you that this mystery person pulled off an infamous switcheroo of his or her own.

... oh yeah, did I forget to mention that I was lying when I said this person was "clueless" and that I actually hid a clue in my initial game post?

57. Victor Mature + Lebron James + 13. Albert Brooks = Victor Lebron (Daddy) + James Brooks (Jerry)

Nice one!

Nice one!
I don't watch the Kentucky Derby that often, but when I saw Victor Lebron's name come up as the jockey for Frac Daddy during this year's Derby, I thought to myself, "Victor Lebron would be a brilliant name to use in a Tangredi game because he could form a connection to or from Lebron James." I know that Frank had done a game once where surnames doubled as first names, so I took a cue from that and turned it into a trio game.

As for my "initial" clue, I was wondering if anybody here would question the unusual wording of most of my clues and look at the clues themselves for a hidden message. Sure enough, the first letter in all 77 clues spell out a series of comments: "LEBRON JAMES. I HATE THAT GUY. SELFISH CRYBABY. BETRAYED OHIO. HE'S UNWORTHY OF A CLUE IN MY PUZZLE." It wasn't easy coming up with a series of comments that totaled exactly 77 letters and it wasn't easy writing certain clues that begin with certain letters of the alphabet (like those back-to-back Zs)... but it was well worth it.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed this puzzle much more than my last one. :D I'll let everybody's brain rest for a few months, then I shall return with the mother of all connection games that I hinted at a couple of weeks ago.
