Sploofus is becoming a punk-ass bitch sometimes.

Which of these is not a Metallica album?

Which of these is a Peter Gabriel album?

I'm probably jinxing myself by saying this, but I've been getting a lot of "Books & Authors" questions lately, with a few "Music" questions mixed in. Where have all my science or even sports subjects gone? Fortunately, the book questions have been relatively easy or guessable. The music, not so much.

I'll see your Metallica, and raise you a Uriah Heep.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Note to self: Do not attempt the QOD when the internet is running slowly. I answered in about 3 seconds today, but it registered as over 9.

Sure enough, a Music question today. Second-guessed my way out of the right answer, too.

FTR I have a couple of days of questions sitting in my mailbox. My home computer has been a bit ornery lately. I did a Vista update, and started getting messages about my video driver and as of Saturday morning decided not even to boot up correctly. I officially want XP back. But til I can talk to Dell about how to recover from this, I'm stuck with just the phone, and I ain't doing Sploofus on here.

Do you have nVidia? If so...... sigh..... I'll see if I can find the links for help. August is notoriously a bad month for me with our computers. This August has proved to not be an exception to that.

Have I mentioned before that I suck?

Latest ignominy (in addition to the general problem of not knowing the answer) was clicking on the wrong answer when I actually DID know the right answer.

July was good. September will be good. August, well....

Grrrr...

Yeah it's a Dell with an nVidia card on the motherboard, and they have to replace the whole motherboard. So I have to wait til they send the new board to the onsite tech, then wait til the tech can get here to replace it. Prolly not til next week before it's all said and done.

I'm gonna have to see if my old Gateway will boot up, cuz I can't be cut off that long!

Can you stick in an old video card and use that for now? I have the potential for the same problem with my new motherboard.

I don't have an old video card to use. But luckily, I got the old Gateway up and sorta running. Good 'nuf for a week I think. I hope.

Oh that's great about the Gateway!

I have a terrible vertical line running through the center of my Dell laptop screen. I wouldn't have even had to look at any external sites to find help, but.......

1) My Dell had power cord issues last August, and Dell agreed to fix it due to a class action lawsuit. My warranty expired in May of 2007, but because of the lawsuit, I was covered. BUT....the company we used to ship my computer to them (DHL) lost my computer, so DHL bought me a new computer. Weird...

2) When I called Dell at the beginning of August about the vertical line, they said that the information I had received regarding the 1 year gratuitous warranty was incorrect, and that actually the warranty was retroactive to my last laptop. (May 2007) I thought that was crap.

3) Because I didn't want paid tech support through Dell, I searched for help on the vertical line, and found all the issues with the nVidia. It looks like Dell will be paying to replace my card anyway.

**Note, I usually don't like something for nothing, which is why we pay for the really long warranty etc. But because there were true errors not related to anything I did, I accepted the new laptop graciously, and will accept the new video card as well.

It will be interesting to see if the Gateway causes you to fall from the Sploofus mountain. My computer issues are my excuse as for why I am now an inhabitant of Sploofus valley. lol

I got three consecutive TV/Movies questions. I knew all three answers immediately, including a fairly obscure question about Charlie Chaplin. I am now in 200th place with 25,116 points. W00T!

I got a Q today about an actor I've never heard of. And they wanted to know his real first name.

After missing it I Googled him. Still no idea who he is. Movies in the 30s and 40s and not big ones either. OK, two I've heard of but still no idea who he is.

Not good at the end of the month.

I've managed to get two questions in a row correct. I might even finish in the top 100 this month, if I am really lucky.
