A quick look at IMDB shows at least 4:

1950 Louisa ... Harold 'Hal' Norton
1953 Law and Order ... Frame Johnson
1953-1954 Schlitz Playhouse (TV Series) - The Doctor Comes Home (1953) ... Doctor
1964-1965 Death Valley Days (TV Series) - A City Is Born (1965) ... Charles Poston

You have correctly figured out how the movies will link to the actors.

You have cited the EXACT relevant information for several of the actors, and even paired them with the correct movies.

You have noticed that all of the actors are male.

WHEN YOU FIGURE IT OUT, YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO WONDER IF YOU'RE RIGHT. YOU WILL KNOW YOU'RE RIGHT.

Looking at the posts that have directly preceded Frank's comments, he seems to have endorsed associations of particular movies to three or four actors:

Raoul Walsh and Birth of a Nation (played John Wilkes Booth)
Billy Connolly and Mrs. Brown (played John Brown)
Rex Harrison and Dr. Doolittle (played Dr. John Doolittle)
Russell Crowe and A Beautiful Mind (played John Nash)

Sylvester Stallone played John Rambo.
Edward Furlong played John Connor (Arnold Schwarzenegger in True Lies)
Ed Harris played John Glenn.
Paul Lemat played John in American Grafitti (Richard Dreyfuss in Close Encounters)
Richard Rountree played John Shaft
Robin Williams played John Keating.
Donald Sutherland played John Klute (Jane Fonda in The China Syndrome)
John Malkovich played himself.
John Belushi played John Blutarski

John's a pretty common name but I think that's probably it; it explains both the all male actors and the hookers reference.

Looks like John Lee Hooker is indeed the link to the category.

Going through the actors list, I can add these characters off the top of my head:

Harrison Ford played John (Jack) Ryan in Patriot Games/Clear and Present Danger
Denzel Washington played John Archibald in John Q
Anthony Hopkins played John Quincy Adams in Amistad
William Daniels played John Adams in 1776
Jack Lemmon played John Gustafson in Grumpy Old Men/Grumpier Old Men
Warren Beatty played John Reed in Reds

Whee! When was the last time we had a 3am consolidation?

Image

Sorry this one seemed to be so hard. The minute John Wilkes Booth and John Keats were mentioned, I thought the solution was right around the corner. And I thought Richard Roundtree would be the giveaway, since he is pretty much known only for one role.

Needless to say, every match here is correct so far.

I guess we can't use Johnny for John - that might leave out Al Pacino/Michelle Pfeiffer in Frankie and Johnny

Orson Welles was Long John Silver in Treasure Island
Val Kilmer was John (Doc) Holliday in Tombstone
Mel Gibson was John Smith in Pocahontas

Sorry, but I can't come up with any costars who match the movies from List B off the top of my head.

Can't believe I didn't get the Tangredi. I was all around it. I think the red herring of prostitutes caused me to just throw away that whole idea early on, and then I couldn't adjust to anything else.
