I actually think I saw this movie, but it draws a complete blank right now. That's very unusual for me since I can usually remember these trashy films years later.Weyoun wrote:Ok, well that is DISTURBING BEHAVIOR.
Only thing I can think of is that it has Bruce Greenwood, and maybe he connects to Joan Greenwood somehow.
I'm actually surprised sometimes when I get a 30 or 40 year old movie on DVD and realize how much of the story I still do remember.

The general rules are that looking things up (google or IMDB) is frowned upon for the first couple of days to give everyone a fair shot at the quiz. However, if you think you know an answer, you can look it up to confirm your guess.peacock2121 wrote:Is googling okay for this game?
After that, it's pretty much fair game since otherwise some of these would never get solved.
Once someone guesses the Tangredi, again it's customary to give people a day or so to figure out the matches on their own and then again it's fair game.

For the unititiate, the 'Tangredi' is a name somebody -- not me -- gave for the principle which governs the matches. (The phrase is used for other people's games, not just mine.) Actually, it's okay to post the Tangredi as soon as you've figured out. I only remember one or two cases where somebody held off on it in order to give somebody else a chance.silverscreenselect wrote:Once someone guesses the Tangredi, again it's customary to give people a day or so to figure out the matches on their own and then again it's fair game.
Figuring out the Tangredi is generally considered the highest honor.

Weyoun wrote:Can anyone think of a movie that star someone in "The Golden Compass"? I ask because we have Dakota Fanning, and the only other Dakota I know of is the girl Dakota Blue Richards from that film.
Well, Sir Ian McKellan was in THE TWO TOWERS.
You may have something here...
BETTE Midler was in "Big Business" with Lily Tomlin, who was in ALL OF ME.
Edited to say that I'm not so sure any more...since I'm being hung up on ALIDA and SISSY...
There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.

OK. Here are all the clues.
I got nada on the Tangredi but I've been cleaning around the house and haven't really concentrated on it.
I am tinking some of the names lend themselves to anagrams.
However, if it's NOT anagrams, maybe we should look at someone like Sue Lyon or Francoise Dorleac who have a relatively smaller body of work.
I mean, why Janet Blair or Marthe Keller?

Many times Frank's title has something to so with the puzzle.
Myrna Loy starred with Robert Montgomery (Here Comes Mr. Jordan) in When LADIES Meet.
I'm not sure there's enough Lady/Ladies movies to make that work and anything else (Alida Valli/Joseph Cotten - Since You Went Away - in The Third MAN ; Marthe Keller/Dustin Hoffman - Midnight Cowboy - in Marathon Man) might be too imprecise.
And, are the moves famous enough to spark something?
Trying to look at odd matches here.
Gloria Stuart danced with Peter O'Toole (The Last Emperor) in My Favorite Year. She was also in a couple fo movies with Shirley Temple (Since You Went Away) back when Temple was a moppet.
Candy Clark played the kid sister in the remake of The Big Sleep but I don't see a Mitchum movie on the list.
Just throwing stuff against the wall to see if anything sticks.
Back to my cleaning.

OK.
I think the actor from the movie on list B has to be the TITLE MAN in the movie match
William Powell actually doesn't play The Thin MAN. The Thin Man is a character actor named Edward Ellis. SO, I am thinking that there is an Edward Ellis movie in here someplace.
Every other match, the actor from B list was The MAN of the other title.
So, I thinking that Carole Lombard goes with William Powell for My MAN Godfrey and we're looking for Edward Ellis to match Myrna Loy.
That Frank, he is a tricky one.

One more
Dorothy Malone + Jimmy Cagney (the Public Enemy) = The Man of a Thousand Faces.
I am out of here for a while. I'll check back tonight if I can and se if KT and sss have finished this off
I am sure there's a Steve Railsback picture in here because the Barbara Hershey - The Stuny Man match is too good to be wrong.

George C. Scott is in THE FLIM FLAM MAN, meaning that's probably DR. STRANGELOVE.
JUDGMENT AT NUREMBERG suggests to me Lancaster, who was in BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ and some other "Man" film that escpes me. Of course it also has Tracy, who was in OLD MAN AND THE SEA. And of course Shatner is The Transformed Man.
Alec Guiness needs a movie - he was in THE MAN IN THE WHITE SUIT with Joan Greenwood.
Laura Linney was with Robin Williams (AWAKENINGS) in the atrocious MAN OF THE YEAR.
Lorriane Braco was in MEDICINE MAN with Sean Connery (DR. NO)

Frances MacDormand + Billy Bob Thornton (SLING BLADE) = The Man Who Wasn't There
Sandra Bullock + Sly Stallone (ROCKY) = Demolition Man

Rae Dawn Chong + C. Thomas Howell (THE HITCHER) = Soul Man
Dakota Fanning + Denzel Washington (GLORY) = Man On Fire
Laura Linney + Robin Williams (AWAKENINGS) = Man of the Year
And a big DUH on my part:
Besides Sissy Spacek, add Kathleen Turner to Steve Martin to get The Man With Two Brains.
