This was my Fourth of July avatar, showing Sprots giving ES a little lift to the moon. When going through my list of avatars that survived the first cut, I paired this one up with The Oily Squirrel, since they are very alike in appearance... and chose this one just barely because I like some of the neat effects in it.... particularly the shading of the rocket. This was the first avatar to feature Sprots' new look she got once I ditched the Broncos jersey for consistency with my other characters. I think she looks smashing in Broncos orange hair....
I think ES look smashing on the moon. Oops, I mean smashed.

Rocket Squirrel

The moon ain't the kind of place to shoot a squirrel
In fact it's cold as hell
And there's no one there to scritch him
If you did

It occurred to me shortly after I posted today's entry that Rocket J. Squirrel may show up to cry foul that his name was being drug through the mud to describe ES.....

#11: "The Urinal"

Debuted: 11/12/10

Perhaps the most disturbing avatar ever done by ES was spawned thanks to Spock sharing his own men's room nightmare with the Bored after a visit to Mecca. It's bad enough when your urinal buddy starts talking to you and sharing TMI about his tattoos.... but ES doesn't quite know what to think about looking over and seeing MBRS at the next urinal. Is she merely very talented, or does she have a secret she's been keeping from everyone? Only ES (and perhaps Angel) knows for sure.......

Sprots knows that a new Matias avatar is usually fresh bait for ES's graphic hijacking skills. She was sure there was no way ES could work himself into a picture of Matias with his face all smeared with jam..... and she was right. It wasn't ES, but MBRS who would up starring in this avatar, helping herself to the free meal. And best of all is how Matias seems to be reacting, with a combination laugh and scrunch to MBRS's rough tongue going across his cheek. Matias, the human star of ES's avatars, takes home yet another Top 10 award.....

I've always loved this Matias avatar. I've also thought, from the first time I saw it, that the ear of MBRS, sticking straight up as it does here, looks very much like one half of a pair of devil horns.

That seems appropriate.

Risky Business - check
Urinal - check

Jam Face??? Colour me shocked, I thought it would be WAY higher than #10. In fact, I wouldn't have been at all surprised for it to be #1. It was in my Top 5.......

I haven't looked at the Top 10 list since the day I compiled it (and I already forgot one that's in it.... so I get a mini surprise soon!).... but I know the Top 4 for sure, I think I know my #5, and I know all but one of the next four..... I am pretty sure most of the remaining ones will also be in your Top 20, if not your Top 10..... though there will be a dark horse or two.....

I may end up regretting not slotting this one higher, just as I have bumping off Oily Squirrel, but that's the way it goes..... gotta give the countdown fans something to argue about.....

14 of my Top 20 are still alive and so far Jam Face is the only one in my Top 5 that's been used.

My top 20 that didn't make the cut:

Knitwit
Laker Socks
License to Scritch

My top 20 already shown:

The Road to Norman
Scritchy Business
Urinal

I forgot to say earlier that I think the main reason I like Jam Face so much is because tmitss made a post about it that I thought summed up the entire ES experience (as well as the whole online experience and life experience in general) beautifully.

#9: "Sunmaid Angel"

Debuted: 9/29/10

Image

It is somewhat known that I rarely stray into the transcript threads without getting a heads up somewhere else that there may be something to see there. Even on the deadest of days on the Bored, I will often leave them unclicked. But for whatever reason, I did click on a transcript thread on September 29th... the otherwise unnotable three-question appearance of a contestant named Frank Stasio. And because of this flirtation with the ontopicosity side of the tracks, we got what is by far my favorite Angel avatar to date. Stasio's third and fatal question dealt with the girl who posed for the famous Sunmaid raisins painting, so ES asked Angel if she'd be his Sunmaid squirrel and created this avatar. That face would sell a hell of a lot of raisins, even in Colorado.....

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

If this face ever appears on a Sunmaid box, I'll buy those raisins. I'm eating Kroger's brand in my oatmeal right now.

A Most Excellent avatar.

Raisin Angel - Check!

I'm a little surprised at this one. I loved it, so it was a no brainer for my list but I didn't think it probably had enough oomph to make yours. I obviously underestimated the power of sweet, unassuming Angel......

It wouldn't be a countdown without a cute Angel avatar somewhere.....

Besides, I'll probably end up in Saucy's division again next year in the BBBL.....
