Any moment now, Al Pacino's gonna come in here and tell us we're all out of order.

This isn't EXACTLY answering the question, and I've mentioned this before, but I did dream, long ago, that I was in the HotSeat and faced the million dollar question, which was:
Which of the four Beatles was the only one who had visited the United States prior to their historic first appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show"?
A. John
B. Paul
C. George
D. Ringo
Confetti flew.
And there was much rejoicing.

Okay, another "you know it or you don't" one:
Missouri got the nickname The Show Me State after an 1899 speech by whom?
A. Willard Vandiver
B. Lon Vest Stephens
C. Samuel Clemens
D. William Torrey Harris
Answer
Should I put the answer here, or let the Googlers do the very easy looking?I made sure to put in people associated with MO in 1899. I saw the speech once when I was thumbing through a Bartlett's and had the "aha!" moment...

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

When it debuted September 4, 1972, what was the first item up for bids on The Price is Right?
A. Oak dinette
B. Surround sound stereo
C. Crystal chandelier
D. Muskrat fur coat
Who did the Chicago Cubs defeat in 1908, the last time they won the World Series?
A. New York Yankees
B. Chicago White Sox
C. St. Louis Browns
D. Detroit Tigers

Spoiler
The correct answer is D. Muskrat fur coat. Most people associate TPIR host Bob Barker with animal rights, but until the early 80s the show did give away furs. Any episode that does contain a fur as a prize has been prevented from reairing, due to Barker's wishes.
A. New York Yankees
B. Chicago White Sox
C. St. Louis Browns
D. Detroit Tigers
Spoiler
The correct answer is D. Detroit Tigers. The Cubs also beat the Tigers in the 1907 World Series. They are the only titles the franchise has won to date.
