Ha!
I tried to tell Sprots!
As previously stated, this is one of the cutest of them all, but I agree that all the Matias ones are really cute.
Great count down LB.

Hurray for the Top Avatar of 2009! My personal top three were Matias pictures. Like Marley, I had the softest spot in my heart for the swimming pool picture, because it was the first, as I recall, and therefore had the advantage of surprise -- with a delay for that, as it took me a moment for peripheral vision to kick in and realize that it was not the avatar used by Sprots at the time. For me, the Matias avatars had the best qualities of the Evil Squirrel approach -- surprise, simplicity, and gentle humor that carried a pointy stick (aimed at Sprots, not the baby) without ever being mean.
My other favorite not included on your list (unless I missed it) was the Evil's Angels poster.

Evil's Angels was not an avatar, it was just a picture I did, but it is still my desktop image on both the computer and laptop.
And since it set the tone for my current style, not to mention the types of pictures I have been doing recently, it may very well end up being my favorite picture ever.....

Well, lb, you were 2 for 3. My choice for what SHOULD have been #1 was the squirrel in the pool of an infant son. For much the same reasons as Sliver. And I can't believe that it didn't even make the top 13!!silvercamaro wrote:Hurray for the Top Avatar of 2009! My personal top three were Matias pictures. My alternate WANT to be #1 was the picture of ES and the girls at the Broncos game with Sprots and Co. ES with the brewski was the 'hiya wave' of that one.....

Well damn, I underestimated the popularity of the pool! It did have the advantage of being first, thus the shock effect as SC said, but other than that, it was maybe my least favorite of the five. Oh well, I was getting worried there for a while we were thinking too much alike.....

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Sprots was NOT "practically ecstatic." She almost levitated at this misrepresentation of Matias's relationship with mangy rodents.littlebeast13 wrote:#1: "Matias Loves ES!"

So you've been following the countdown for 2 weeks now and wondered why the hell there were no Matias avatars in it yet. Well, I probably could have easily had all five Matias avatars I did in the Top 10, but in fairness to everything else, I merely chose the best one, and the one I think the Bored liked the best, and this was definitely the one. The fourth of my five Matias avatars, and one of two whose ideas were PM'ed to me by ES's fans. This one came courtesy of Holly (that's Second Chance for those of you who don't pay attention!), who thought Sprots' new avatar of Matias looking all happy in the snow was just begging for a picture of ES in his arms getting ready to plant a big ol' kiss on him. ES was even kind enough to keep him warm by wrapping his bushy tail around Matias. It sure seems to have made Matias happy, and Sprots was practically ecstatic!
Congrats ES and Matias for getting the number one slot! You two may now ride off into the sunset together......

I admit that I did forget the BB reaction to the Matias avatars, and it also escaped me that he didn't get earlier in the Top 13. There actually was no doubt in my mind that Hooly would get the top spot.
