My wife was sleeping, and I had no plans to go back to work today. So I drove to my local Republican Party headquarters and bought some McCain bumper stickers. They had almost run out of them. I told the guy there that I wasn't that enthusiastic about McCain until he picked Sarah Palin as his running mate. He said a lot of people were like that. And frankly, the more I hear about Obama, his voting record, his stance on foreign policy and national defense, and his socialist ideas about the economy, the more fearful I become of what unimaginable damage an Obama presidency would do to this country.
The point of this post is not to change anyone's mind here on the board. Everyone seems pretty set about how he/she is going to vote. The point is that Sarah Palin has energized us conservatives in a way that no other VP pick could have done. And that is a good thing.

Did you get a extra one to send to Bob J?
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
