Rock Band/ Guitar Hero/ Wii Fit
The clutter from these games is driving me crazy. We have three guitars, a microphone and a drum kit, not to mention a Wii fit board. These items are all in my family room and I have to look at them when I am in my kitchen. (At least I have a place to store the DDR pads!)
Does anyone have any good suggestions for how to store these items so that they are easily accessible but out of the way. (My family room doesn't have a closet.)

How about inside the refrigerator? That's where my mom puts all the best stuff.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:The clutter from these games is driving me crazy. Annie I was thinking about you today.
I went on my walk this morning, a bit later than I should have, because it's really hot here.
Anyway, I had just finished going up the large hill near my house and rounding the corner when I saw strange traffic stuff going on. Three cars had stopped on a major street and there were people on the sidewalk watching something.
It was a dog. The dog was a brown corgi-like dog who was darting in the street. It had to be at least 95 degrees out already so I don't understand why he didn't stay on the greenbelt, but he kept going into the street.
He went around the corner to a major street and I followed him. He kept darting into the street, so I got into the street, but near the curb and made large hand gestures to get the cars coming down the road to get them to watch for the dog. A man in an SUV stopped his car and chased him out of the road towards me. I tried to approach the dog with what was left of my water botting thinking that he might be thirsty.
The dog didn't like me and bared his teeth. He ran away from me into a gated community when the gate was open, but it closed before I could follow him. Hopefully his parents live there. There are a lot of trees in the community, so hopefully he can at least get out of the sun.

I can't remember but is there room behind the couch(es) to put some sort of thin storage bin? Or is there room underneath the couches? Obviously the band wants them handy but I think the roadie decides where they go. Put them in the bathroom your mom never uses. Other than that, put them in the garage but make sure they are handy.[/list]PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:The clutter from these games is driving me crazy. I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

There is no room behind the couches unless I get rid of my bookshelves. The problem is that the drum kit is large. I thought about buying a corner cabinet to store the stuff, but aside from the fact that it will make the room too cluttered, nothing is big enough for the drum kit.
I am tempted to get some guitar hooks and hand the stupid guitars on the wall above the TV, that won't solve my drum kit problem though.

Thank you for helping him, Miss Placentia. If I met that dog, I could tell him a thing or two.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote: It was a dog. The dog was a brown corgi-like dog who was darting in the street. He was in the street, because that's where the game is. The game is called Race and Dodge. It's really fun, but only if you win. When he bared his teeth at you, he probably was just miffed that you wouldn't let him play any more. Since he ran through the gate, and the gate closed, maybe that will keep him from going back to play again. You probably saved his life, and you saved some driver from hitting him and feeling guilty and becoming a coward and driving away very fast. You should feel veryveryvery good about saving the dog from being hurt. (Even though you saved him, too, the prospective coward can fend for himself.)
If ABC would give me a television daytime talk show, I could be "Dr. Annie" and give good advice to four-footers who play dangerous games. I could come on right after my friend Oprah. Everybody would watch.

If you figure it out, please tell me. For the time being, stuff is being slid under the couch and stowed behind the couch.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:

How about putting a door between the family room and kitchen? Then you could close the door and not have to look at them.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:These items are all in my family room and I have to look at them when I am in my kitchen.

That so would not bother me, but it wouldn't fly with the boy. I think he's also going to veto my suggestion that we get rid of the coffee table and just leave the drums permanently in the middle of the living room.silvercamaro wrote:I think PSM and LadySoleil each should build a raised stage in the living room or family room. Then, if you always leave the drums set up, the microphone in place, and the guitars handy, everything looks like it's exactly where it's supposed to be.

It would have to be a big door. I have sort of a "great room" set up.MarleysGh0st wrote:How about putting a door between the family room and kitchen? Clearly, you are an excellent roadie. You just leave much to be desired as a lighting and special effects technician.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:There is a stage kid now for Rock Band with "interactive light and smoke stage show."
It was supposed to ship today from pre-orders.
I suck as a Roadie. I didn't get it for my family.
Work on that, wouldja?

Re: Rock Band/ Guitar Hero/ Wii Fit
Wii fit is under the Family Room coffee table. I have a Suchard Chocolate crate that I had been using to store seasonal decorations, which is in the family room. I took them out, put the decorations in the garage and put the Mario Cart steering wheels and DDR pads in the crate. I took two shelves out of the guest room closet and now the drums and guitars can be stored in it.ladysoleil wrote:If you figure it out, please tell me. It's not an elegant solution, but I didn't have to buy anything.

The drums too? When I just told Eric what you said, he said that he would build some custom doowap thing for them when he gets the shop finished. LOL Yay, another reason to have the shop!PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:I am storing the crap in the guest room closet. The kids move the guitars in and out as needed.

We have custom closets in the guest room and I had to take out shelves to make everything fit, but it does.

I would suggest PM'ing Dimmzy. She is an actual professional at this stuff.
If you want me to email her, I have her address.
Actually, I will email her and ask her to come read the thread.
I am in the middle of re-organizing my sewing/excersize/laundry/pantry space. I owe her photos when I am done.
Worked on it for an hour tonight and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And I found things that I really wanted to find. BONUS!
