I liked him in his recurring role as Gandy on the Rockford Files. A quick IMDB search says he was on only 3 episodes. Seemed like more.

We think the celebrity deaths coming in threes thing is over, if you count Bernie Mac, Isaac Hayes, and the death of John Edwards' career.
Except I think Edwards will be fine in a year or two, especially if he just wants to concentrate on poverty rather than standard politics.

And one half of a great songwriting team with David Porter.BackInTex wrote:I always liked him.ulysses5019 wrote:http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/0 ... index.html

Awww, man. He was a good guy. He was on a flight of mine once from Newark to Vegas, and came up to the galley to chat with me for over an hour. I told him that he was an answer to my last BAM question. (Turns out I was mistaken about that, though...whoops.)
One funny thing from that flight...he watched one of the inflight movies. Some comedy. He was laughing a lot and really loudly, in that unmistakable voice of course. Some teenager approached me later in the flight and said that he KNEW Chef (South Park) was somewhere on the plane, but didn't know what he looked like.

LOL, I'm surprised I didn't mention that.traininvain wrote: I always liked that he call Rockford, Rockfish.
In college, my roommates and I were avid Rockford file watchers (syndication version, 10:30PM Mon-Fri).
I named my dog Rockfish as a result.

I'd be surprised if they don't do something like that. Those two were great episodes but recalling them doesn't make me chuckle as much as does the "Succubus" episode with Chef's parents and the Loch Ness Monster stories. I think I'll break out the the Season 3 DVDs and watch that one in honor of Isaac.Appa23 wrote: I hope that South Park does honor him by re-showing the "Closet" episode and the "Adventure Club" episode. But maybe they'll even do another new episode. After all, the adventure club one was made entirely with recycled Chef audio tracks. No reason they couldn't do it again, hopefully with a more dignified end to the character.

Now that would be one heck of a final jeopardy question. He was married three times and fathered 11 children. He was also an honorary king of Ghana, taking the title Nene Katey Ocansey I.
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

A dignified end to Chef, eh? Personally, I hope they give Chef the Sgt. Esterhaus treatment and say that he died while having sex. I'm sure that's how Chef wanted to go.megaaddict wrote:I'd be surprised if they don't do something like that. I love South Park (and have taken my knocks for it over the years), but I thought that was the worst episode ever, with the possible exception of Scott Tenorman Must Die.megaaddict wrote:I'd be surprised if they don't do something like that. I'd love for them to give him a better send off than that (although I understood the reasoning at the time, I just didn't think it was entertaining).
Spoiler
I'm darned good and ready.

I have never watched an episode of South Park. But oddly enough, I have heard Isaac Hayes, as Chef, singing "Chocolate Salty Balls," a song which I find hilarious. If I ever want to get a rise out of my wife, all I have to do is start singing "Have you seen my balls, they're big and salty and brown. If you ever need a quick pick-me-up, just put my balls in your mouth..."
