Story of My Life, A novel by Jay McInerney

#1 Post by themanintheseersuckersuit » Sun Aug 03, 2008 2:10 pm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Story_of_My_Life_(novel)
The novel is narrated in the first-person from the point of view of Alison Poole, whom author Jay McInerney describes as, "an ostensibly jaded, cocaine-addled, sexually voracious 20-year old … inspired by [former girlfriend Rielle Hunter, then named Lisa Druck]."[1][2][3] The fictional Alison is originally from Virginia and lives in Manhattan, New York where she is involved in several sexual relationships and is aspiring to become an actress. She falls in love with bond trader and Shakespeare expert Dean but soon they betray each other.
If this post makes no sense to you google Rielle Hunter.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

War is where the government tells you who the bad guy is.
Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.

Okay, you fixed the link after I replied to your post. I thought I was supposed to infer something related to her as a WWTBAM contestant or something like that. I guess it's just another rabble rousing political post.

I wonder why the message board doesn't show that you edited your post after I replied to it. I wonder if the editing was actually done by one of the moderators or administrators who have pledged not to do such a thing.

Confessor,

I have edited posts for spelling mistakes, etc. and it never indicates that said editing has taken place.

I tried a couple of times to fix the link, and yes it is another rabble rousing political post, NTTIAWWT,

It never indicates that an edit has happened as long as you fix your message before anyone else has responded to it. If you edit after someone has responded, there will be an indication that the post has been edited, and how many times it has been edited. If a moderator edits someone else's post, there is no indication that the post has been edited. That's why I concluded that a moderator or administrator must have edited the post after I replied.

Jeez, I think if this is true, it is worse than what Gingrich did to his wife.
