1. The official name of Uruguay is the Eastern Republic of Uruguay named for its location east of what body of water?

Rio de la Plata is the best answer but I'll also take Uruguay River. The area was named Banda Oriental for its location on the east side of the Rio de la Plata when it was part of the Viceroyalty of La Plata. However, since the Uruguay River does run along the western border of the country I'll take that. Rio de la Plata not actually a river, BTW. It is an estuary formed by the Uruguay and Parana Rivers.

Ithaca

3. What musical instrument’s name can be translated as “jumping flea”?

Ukulele also spelled ukelele (primarily Brit. English)
