Got the Sad Card from Sacto tryouts

#1 Post by winegreg » Mon Jul 14, 2008 9:03 am

Oh well, at least I got a card this time. The first four times they didn't send anything, after two months waiting for the card each time, I started losing hope. I also like that they put in fine print on the card "Game sponsor reserves the right to limit the number of times one can apply." If they were smart, (and I'm not claiming they are) they would send happy cards to us pesky repeat applicants, which would keep us quiet and away from tryouts until our eligibility ran out.

My sympathies.

If they were smart, they'd actually pick some of us repeaters to be on the show and get all that free publicity that comes when they have big winners.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Sorry, winegreg. Welcome back to the club.

I'm sure it would be a very pleasant thing for them if one of their bubbly, exciting, personable contestants won the million. But if a contestant won that money and didn't have anything interesting to chat to Meredith about...what possible interest would that be for the viewers?

Sorry about the sad card.

I am not so sure they haven't already done this to people.

I call it a marley card.

Goodness.... did I say that out loud?

Well until someone who was not also taped actually reports getting one, "hopelessly" is probably apropos for us! :P

Sorry to hear bout the card Winegreg. It will be interesting to see if the taped/no taped trend continues with the road shows.

"Millionaire reserves the right to limit the number of times a person may audition for the show" hasn't become the Marley Rule, yet. :|

Well, since Winegreg got his card, I should know in about 3 hours if i've almost certainly met the same fate. Or perhaps by some miracle i'll help resolve the "non-taped" paradox... ha.

Sorry about that winegreg. I certainly know how you feel.

As I had previously mentioned, when I had my 2nd interview at my last audition, one of the APs mentioned someone that had auditioned 38 times and basically wasn't gettign the hint. However, she didn't seem to indicate that they were going to bar the person from auditioning anymore.

I don't suppose you could bar the person from showing up. Discrimination and all that. But, would you want TPTB to tell you that they will never let you on the show?

Of course they can. What else does "Millionaire reserves the right to limit the number of times a person may audition for the show" mean?

I didn't think it was relevant to my response.

No, I certainly would not. Nor, I suppose, would anyone else. This does explain why the APs prefer to give the polite brush-off, time and time again, rather than invoke the prohibition.

But the fact that they put this reservation of power in the rules means that they can do so, any time they choose.
