My life has been so incredibly busy in good ways and not-so-good ways for the past few months, and so I have not joined in here.
If anyone lives in the NJ/PA area, they may know a band called the "B Street Band" , a great Springsteen tribute band that was known as "Backstreets" for years in the '80s. They now do shows in Atlantic City, all over the Jersey shore and are actually going to Denver for the Dem Convention.
My good buddy has become its drummer. What a great gig for a guy who retired from the NYPD and was band-less for the first time since Junior High School! (he was the drummer for my band the "Moonlighters")
He talked the B-Streeters to have me come up and play with them. So last Sunday at the Headliner in Belmar, I was brought up to accompany the band on the accordian for "Sandy", "Pay Me My Money Down" and "Cherry Bomb".
I had the trombone, too, and did '10th Avenue Freeze0ut", "Havin' a Party", and "Glory Days'.
What a blast, Im still having the songs playing in my head.
I will learn "Mary's Place" and "E Street Shuffle" for the next time I can get there.

What fun!
You play the accordian? Did I know that? My sister plays accordian and I'm sure that big honkin' thing is still in her house somewhere.
Keep up the good work. Maybe some day it'll work out that we can see one of your gigs.

Re: A little braggin
Congrats. I saw Backstreets play back in the day, in the 80s, somewhere in Hoboken. Maybe at a frat house. Definitely not my frat house.moonie wrote:My life has been so incredibly busy in good ways and not-so-good ways for the past few months, and so I have not joined in here.
