Info for past and present auditioners

#1 Post by gsabc » Mon Jul 07, 2008 11:14 am

Just poked my nose into the SyndieBAM website to see if the mentioned "additional road audition date" has shown up. It hasn't, but I noticed these items. I'm not sure if they've been mentioned before or not.

#1, from the audition page on the website:

Contestant Pool Expiration:
If you have auditioned for the Millionaire hosted by Meredith Vieira and received a post card putting you in the Contestant Pool do NOT audition again.

So no expiration date listed for current Happy Card holders, beyond the one in the rules which flushed everyone from before June 1, 2005.

#2, from the official rules:

Contact with Program Staff:

Personal contact between the Program staff and Applicants or Potential Contestants is prohibited. Any attempts by Applicants or Potential Contestants to contact the Program Staff directly may, at Game Sponsor's sole discretion, result in disqualification of the Applicant or Potential Contestant from current and future attempts to qualify as a Contestant.

So how do you tell them if your phone number or address has changed? Or is that not considered a "personal" contact?
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

2006!

From the Audition link:
If you have auditioned before and received a postcard stating that you are in the Contestant Pool, please note: Eligibility for selection from the Contestant Pool does expire. Anyone who auditioned prior to June 2006 will need to audition again this year.
It's curious that the rule you quoted is not about Contestant Pool expiration, even though it's under that tltle. They seem to keep alternating between these two statements, without being able to combine them and quote them consistently.

As for updating your contact information, I think a call to the generic 212 number to do so would be acceptable. What they're specifically prohibiting is, as they say, personal contact, whether face-to-face or to their personal e-mail address or telephone extension. The only authorized contact with an AP is during an official audition process.

At that time, of course, they'll refuse to answer our specific questions...

Sounds like what I've got going at work. We sometimes change one document, but forget there's a reference to what we're changing in another. So they get out of sync with each other. Sometimes we catch it, other times the auditors do. Fortunately, it has never been a truly significant error.

Since the official rules say 2005, those should be the ones that count. But if you've got a Happy Card from between June 2005 and 2006, you should get your butt to an audition anyway.

The official rules are out of date. From what frogman has told us, they're making some significant changes this season!
