Well, the week draws to a close

#1 Post by a1mamacat » Thu Jul 03, 2008 10:57 pm

and Big J will be home tomorrow night, hopefully, browned and freckled and exhausted. Yesterday, according to the camp web page, was rock climbing and kayaking. Today, would be the 5 mile hike and swim at the mountain lake.

Nana and Papa will head up around 2:30, to attend closing ceremonies, and retrieve No1 grandson, then bring him home.

Sunday, he will head out to their place and spend a week on his own with just them. First time it has been that long, usually it is just a couple of days.

He has been so stressed with the uncertainty looming over our heads about the things that habve been going on, that they decided that he needed a real break. They have planned - 1 day of golf, 1 day of island hopping in a small cruiser, 1 day of beach, 1 day of deep sea fishing with just Papa, and in between, Nana has some garden holes that need to be dug, and flower pots that need to be moved.

Nana has also advised that the TV at her house does not operate during the day, and it shuts off at 9 pm in the evening.

I anticipate that there will be much exhaustion in one young man LOL>

I tell you what, if this young man does not succeed in life, he will never be able to claim it's because he didn't have chances. Good on Nana and Papa -- this sounds like just the sort of opportunity a young man in James' position needs.

Working in Summer School this year, I have seen the products of poor parenting -- and witnessed some of their interactions firsthand, which vaguely sickened me. Some of these kids would kill to have an opportunity to have either one of these James weeks in their life.

Bless your parents, they are true gems.

I hope James realizes how much love and support he has going for him.
Good luck with everything!
