Nasty weather

#1 Post by gsabc » Wed Jul 02, 2008 2:56 pm

Some amazingly strong thunderstorms are moving through my area. The wind outside my workplace went from zero to probably hurricane force in a matter of seconds. We watched the sheet of rain as it approached. The lightning and thunder are impressive. I'm glad I'm inside.

OTOH, it's getting near quitting time, and I have an errand to run on my way home. Not good.

Addendum: one of our air vents just started dripping. The rain is apparently blowing into the ventilation system. We're on the first floor of a five-story building. I wonder what the upper floors are like.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Stay dry!!

Bad news is, at least in CT, they're forecasting thunderstorms every day until next Wednesday. Don't know if it's the same for you or if you might get luckier than us! Happy long weekend, I'm going to be stuck inside!!

Great. I left all my windows open, so I probably get to come home Friday to a very wet apartment at the very least.

In Ohio here we had "do we see rotation in that cloud" night tonight. Along with the high wind & hail warnings. Despite the siren, apparently none of the clouds quite reached critical-rotation (despite the helpful little twister icons the helpful little local TV station uses).

It has basically been a very bad week; I'm here for the funeral of my favorite cousin (I don't think any of the other cousins would disagree, either) & "get" to pay condolences as well to the family of our neighbor of 41 years, who also died last Thursday night/Friday morning.
