5th Grader thread (spoilers)

First contestant was a corporate trainer, who has travelled all over, from Puerto Rico to Alaska.

He has to be saved on the very first question:

How many sides does a cube have?

While deliberating, he held his hands out, as if visualizing two parallel sides of the cube, and Jeff Foxworthy held out his hands to add two more sides. Unfortunately, the contestant didn't ask one of the fifth graders to complete the cube, so he somehow came up with the answer of "eight".

He managed to WAG his way up to walking away with $50,000, though.

The second contestant was a deputy sheriff.

He also need the save on his first question. (I forget which one that was, now, and nobody has posted a transcript on the 5th Grader board, yet.) He ended up missing the $50K question and leaving with $25K.

There another new episode next week, with a contestant who wants to challenge a stereotype. She says she can be gorgeous and smart!



BTW, someone on the 5th Grader board is suggesting that they have a Tournament of Champions.

president. He couldn't decide if it was Lincoln, Grant, AJ or Polk.

However, there was also a $4k q about a 1976 song by Blue Oyster Cult that I had no clue on, although I think I could have reasoned it out. He used his PAF.

The prize tree and lifeline structure of this show are such that it's pretty easy for any contestant to get that high. Just using the cheats, without any work at all on the contestant's part, is enough for $5K. Add some lucky guesses (on the True/False questions, perhaps) or actually know an answer or two, and you're over the $25K safe haven.

I actually saw 5th Grader last night.

They mentioned where the first guy went to college-Western Michigan University. When I saw that, I started to root for him. but his performance was so PATHETIC I couldn't wait for him to leave. I guess he's never played a game involving dice, which have six sides and are cube-shaped. That's what immediately popped into my brain when the question came up. Then he said he didn't know what a proper noun is-guess he didn't take and English courses. He also said geography scared him-and he needed help with that, too.

Do they make the contestants take a test to qualify for this show? I bet I could do better than any of the people we've seen so far.

In which case they probably wouldn't want you. They seem to take only the auditioners who flunk the test.
