Well, Princess passed her test for the Beginner Class yesterday. It was close though. Sam had brushed her to give her the traditional Bichon head POOF and fluff her up prior to class. Then, when we arrived at PetSmart, she bought her a new pretty dress to wear for class. (think cocktail dress that was black with tiny white polka dots and a pretty pink bow worn empress style)
When the test started, she wouldn't do any of the commands. Sam was so frustrated! It didn't help that the instructor had put a bowl of dog food in the center of the room as a distraction. lol Finally, Eric said, "I think you need to take the dress off of her." Sam did, and Princess started doing the commands! I later said that she was trying to keep from getting her dress dirty. lol
There was one part when we had to take her down the toy aisle. On the toy aisle were lots of toys on the ground, as well as treats that were scattered every few feet. The goal was for her to show that she was able to "leave it" when instructed to do so. That was a little tough, but she managed to ignore all except for one treat at the end which she stole.
So, we have a new graduate! YAY! Cute picture to follow, after I get the pictures from Eric. We're waiting to start the intermediate class until late August or early September.
PS - Sam would tell her friends that she had "Princess training" whenever they would ask to do something on Friday afternoons. Ha.

Congratulations to Princess!
I never had a dress. I'm a big girl, and I don't think they make cocktail dresses with polka dots in XXXXXXL. It's okay, though. Apart from the occasional bandana, my pumpkin suit is the only thing I've ever liked to wear.
That "leave it" is the hardest thing to do. I mean, why do people put tasty treats on the floor if they don't want us to scarf them down? It doesn't make sense to me. That's one of the many things that confuses me about two-footers.
