Twelve-term Georgia Congressman who served almost 50 years in State and Federal government. Scott had been in poor health in recent years but had filed to run for another term and had attracted primary opponents who cited his age and health. I'm not sure what the procedure is for a special election and/or re-opening qualifying for the 2026 election. (The Georgia primary is May 19.) Scott's wife was Hank Aaron's younger sister. For what it's worth, neither Flock nor I live in Scott's district.
