Bald Eagle sadness

#1 Post by BackInTex » Mon Mar 16, 2026 8:09 am

A pair bald eagles have nested on the property next to my daughter and her family the past 3 years. Last year they raised 2-3 eaglets. A nature photographer came out and did a photo shoot of them. The two adults can be seen daily flying around the area which is about an 1/8th of a mile from the Brazos river.

This weeked we had some severe winds which knocked down the branch their nest was on. Two eaglets were in there. The property owner and my son-in-law found them in the wreckage yesterday morning. They called the game warden who came out to assess. He said normally they would place the eaglets in an artificial nest/basket and raise it back up into the tree, but this particular tree was not healthy and had no suitable branches. He took both eaglets to a wildlife rehab place (we don't know yet where but we will find out and try to keep up with the eaglets' progress).

We don't know if either eaglet sustained any injuries, but according to my s-i-l one looked fine and one appeared to be more aggitated. Hopefully both are and will be fine.

What they found interesting are the leftovers from all the meals: fish bones, squirrel pelts, and an large number of turtle shells.

My 5-year old granddaughter was saying how sad it was seeing the mom and dad circling trying to find their babies.

For scale, the barbed wires are about 10 inches apart.

..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

War is where the government tells you who the bad guy is.
Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.
