Robbery at the Louvre

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Sun Oct 19, 2025 9:35 am

A gang of professional thieves broke into the Louvre Museum this morning at about 9:30 local time and made off with several pieces (believed to be 8 or 9) of rare jewelry, including a tiara belonging to Emperor Napoleon III's wfe (which was later found outside after being damaged during the robbery). They used a lift to get to an upper window and a grinder to cut the window pane. The entire robbery took about 10 minutes. The French police have assigned their top detective to the case:

Two men have been arrested in connection with the robbery, one at the airport trying to leave the country. Two other suspects are still at large.

According to a French news agency, the password to access the museum's video surveillance system was "LOUVRE."

I've always been skeptical of movies and TV shows where someone needing to access a computer or smartphone looks around for about five seconds and figures it out, like the name of the person's pet or his birthday. I said nobody in real life would be that stupid. I guess I was wrong.
