Georgia Tech's unbeaten season came crashing down at NC State last night.
Our chances to make the CFP went down considerably. Realistically, the only way we can do that is to win the conference championship. Right now, there is one unbeaten team in the conference standings (Virginia) and five teams with one loss, including Tech (but not including Miami, which has begun its typical November swoon). Of the other four teams, Tech has already beaten Duke and plays Pitt at home, so we would have tiebreakers against both of them. The other, two, SMU and Louisville, play each other, so the loser of that game is eliminated as well. So, to make the championship Tech has to (1) beat woeful Boston College (on the road) and Pitt (at home), and (2) hope for the SMU/Louisville winner to lose one more game or Virginia to lose two more games; or (3) hope to come out ahead in a convoluted two- or three- team tiebreaker nobody really understands.
