Lyrically Speaking 10-29-25

#1 Post by elwoodblues » Tue Oct 28, 2025 9:42 pm

Last Word Wednesday. You know what to do.

1. I got one foot on the platform
And another on the train
And I'm going back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain

2. Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear

3. All at once came a sound from the inside
Then a beam of light hit the ground
Everyone felt the sound of their heartbeat
Every man, every woman, every child

4. Goodbye to you my trusted friend
We've known each other since we were nine or ten

5. I grew to love it more and more each day
I’m alive because I met her suddenly my life is better
I can see I’ll never let her go

6. I don't have digital
I don't have diddly-squat
It's not having what you want
It's wanting what you've got

7. Twenty-five years ago, they spoke out and they broke out
Of recession and oppression and together they toked
And they folked out with guitars around a bonfire
Just singin' and clappin', man, what the hell happened?

8. Times are gone
For honest men
Sometimes, far too long for snakes

Not my brightest hour.
1. I got one foot on the platform
And another on the train
And I'm going back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain

House of the Rising Sun, The Rascals

2. Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear

Here Comes the Sun, The Beatles

3. All at once came a sound from the inside
Then a beam of light hit the ground
Everyone felt the sound of their heartbeat
Every man, every woman, every child

4. Goodbye to you my trusted friend
We've known each other since we were nine or ten

5. I grew to love it more and more each day
I’m alive because I met her suddenly my life is better
I can see I’ll never let her go

6. I don't have digital
I don't have diddly-squat
It's not having what you want
It's wanting what you've got

7. Twenty-five years ago, they spoke out and they broke out
Of recession and oppression and together they toked
And they folked out with guitars around a bonfire
Just singin' and clappin', man, what the hell happened?
