RIP Mrs. SSS

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Sat Sep 06, 2025 7:53 am

My wife died last night after a long battle with Alzheimers. We had been married 41 years and have two wonderful daughters. She had experienced several falls in the memory care home where she lived because she was so active. This last time, she fractured her femur and shortly after that quit eating. I had just been to see her about noon yesterday and could tell she wasn't doing well. She was one of the most popular residents there because even after her memory went, she always smiled and liked to hug people. The best thing that happened to me in my entire life was marrying her.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
