Destination or journey?
Random asks about what makes you different.
I prefer destination, just beam me there. Jeff loves cartrips. I think they suck eggs. My sil just flew to Paris for an extended stay, she agrees with me.
Cars-all I want is a functioning tool with AC, radio and crank windows. Jeff has had a couple of classic Corvettes in the past. I must say they are cuter. We have an Audi...
I like watermelon flavor but not watermelon. Mushpile.
I know I should prefer "real" books, but Kindle rocks. No need to get a nightlite.

Re: Destination or journey?
When I was younger, I loved the driving journeys. In my 20s, I would take day-long drives to California destinations I'd never been to.
In my 30s, I had several cross-country trips that I enjoyed: California to Raleigh, Raleigh to South Florida, South Florida to Los Angeles, and Los Angeles to Boise.
In my 40s, I drove all over the country getting companies ready for Y2K. Then, in 2000, from California to Georgia and back, then from California to Richmond and back.
In my 50s, I traveled from California to New Jersey, then made a trip through New England. After winning on WWTBAM, I took a driving vacation from New York to Denver via Nashville, picked up my daughter, her oldest daughter, and her girlfriend, then drove to the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Boise, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Los Angeles via California 1, Las Vegas, The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Durango, back to Denver, and back to New York via Nashville. Then, New Jersey to Denver and California, and to South Carolina, and later, South Carolina to Boise and back.
In my 60s, I went from South Carolina to Arkansas and back, then South Carolina to Dallas and back via Florida. I flew to Denver, then drove back to South Carolina, then from South Carolina to North Carolina, and then from North Carolina to Tucson. From Tucson, I've made trips to San Diego, twice to Denver, then Las Vegas, Disneyland, and Los Angeles, another trip to Las Vegas, then Chicago and back via Denver, another to El Paso, and three trips to Phoenix.
That was all driving. I flew to other cities over the years as well.
I loved the journeys, but now that I'm in my 70s and arthritic, I prefer to stay home and fly when necessary. My 2019 Edge has less than 12,000 miles on it.

I adore road trips, but also love traveling farther afield. I have two retirement goals:
Christmas River Cruise on the Rhine or Danube
and
The 600-mile yard sale along Rte 127

I was considering a river cruise, but I'm too mobility disabled now.

Re: Destination or journey?
We have Allstate's Milewise policies on our vehicles, which are saving us about $1000 a year. My wife drives less than I do; her Jeep has about 5000 miles on it, and it's a year older.

Re: Destination or journey?
In life, definitely the journey.
On trips, if driving, the journey, if flying, more the destination.
My car is a 2000 Honda Accord manual transmission (part of the reason I like the journey), with 197,000 miles. It's just getting broke in good.
I have been reading magazine-length articles online these past few years, and collecting books that are stacking up. So now I am starting to write down on my calendar to read a book for an hour, several times a week.
Yes, a paper calendar.
Newest adventures: Cold plunges, poetry.

We use a paper calendar. Used to buy a new one eeach year. Now just use the freebie from a lawyer friend.

Re: Destination or journey?
I like both. No point in the journey if no destination. But I've become a one way type. I enjoy the journey there, not so much back. Back involves mostly been there done that with no reward at the end.
Week before last we flew to SFO and spent a few days in Napa, attending our neice's wedding and visiting several wineries. Then we drove 6 hours north (journey) to Chiloquin, OR and spent several days discovering Crater Lake. On the way to Chiloquin we stopped and had lunch in Shasta Lake, Ca. After that we drove 5 hours to Portland for a day before flying back.
Crater Lake is absolutely astonishing, for those that haven't been there. We had beautiful weather making the water the bluest water I've ever seen.

Basketball, football, baseball or other sport?
See, for watching a game as a game, not a rivakry or whatever, I find basketball more interesting. Our kiddos did bball when young and it was fascinating.
However, I am teamdriven now. Don't give a rat's patoot about bball. I root for OU, even tho I'm a UW husky, and I root for the Stros. I've come to appreciate finer points of both of those sports.

That sucks..are they not accessible? I thought I'd read that some are handicap-friendly. As my retirement is still at least a few years away (unless I win Powerball tonight) I can only hope my health holds up.
