City on the Edge of Vandalism

Philadelphia had a portal connecting it with other cities around the world until vandals cut its copper cables. They escaped by subway with the copper in a trash can. The portal is being repaired and moved from JFK Plaza (known locally as LOVE Park) to a more secure site.



Like hitchBOT in 2015, Philadelphia is the only city where this happened.

They had a similar portal that was a major plot element on an episode of Elspeth earlier this season. It connected New York with a small town in Scotland, and a murder occurred in New York and a man on the Scottish side witnessed it and provided Elspeth with the clues she needed to solve the case. (It also provided her with a long distance romance with Ioan Gruffudd, who played the witness.)

I was going to ask about witnesses on the other side of the portal, but I see that sss and TV have already covered that. So I'll move on to the next point.

I am so ashamed.

We've been there twice - once during the holidays and once not that long ago - and loved it.

We had a blast. There was a band in Ireland and people danced there and in Philly. We were showing the Irish how to do The Electric Slide.

People were taking selfies with folks in Vilnius.

EDITED TO ADD - There's no volume or sound. We did it all without music.

When I lived in Philly, the subway riders could have seen me coming back to my apartment at 9th and Chestnut with an auto battery I bought at Sears. I drove so little that my battery died, and a tow truck couldn't get into the parking garage to give me a jumpstart. I'd have the same problem here, but I use a trickle charger.
