Novel Update

#1 Post by Vandal » Wed May 14, 2008 9:43 am

The transition is complete, The Memory Box is now a Young Adult novel. The new/improved manuscript is on its way to 17th street in NYC.

The story is so much better now. I clipped out 4000 words and three chapters, so it's even tighter than before.

It's in the hands of agent Kendra and the good people at Foundry.

Now we wait and finish novel 2 (it's even better than the first).

Wow! So it is on is way to....

a) the decision maker to print or not to print

b) the pressman to start setting the presses
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.
~~ Thomas Jefferson

War is where the government tells you who the bad guy is.
Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.

None of the above, at least not yet. It's on the way to the agent, who, IF she loves the story, will offer me representation and submit it to several large publishing house editors. IF an editor loves the story, then it goes to a), then IF it gets a thumbs up, off it goes to b).

Each IF is bolded for a reason.

Good luck! I hope that the agent loves the story.

Best of luck with this.

I should not be amazed (but I am) everytime I go back to something I've written thinking it can't be improved, and proceed to cut it.

Cutting always helps.
I am about 25% sure of this.

Sort of. I wrote a one-act play that required 11 characters, and long sections of one character talking to the audience. I thought it was brilliant. Once I realized the long speeches were killing it, I cut the speeches and 5 of the characters and turned it into a full length play. Now it is brilliant.

Until the next time I pick it up to re-write.
I am about 25% sure of this.
