Hackman In; Others Curiously Out of In Memoriam Tribute

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Sun Mar 02, 2025 10:34 pm

Morgan Freeman introduced the In Memoriam segment of the Oscars, which included a fitting tribute to Gene Hackman. Freeman started by mentioning his personal connection with Hackman before they began the previously filmed segment. Hackman was added again at the end of the segment (which had intended to close with James Earl Jones before the events of this last week). Maggie Smith was the first person mentioned during the tribute. Michelle Trachtenberg was not mentioned, which may be because she died after the filmed tribute was put together. Others who were not mentioned included Alain Delon, Mitzi Gaynor, Tony Todd, Shannon Doherty, Bernard Hill, and Olivia Hussey.

I was thinking Trachtenberg was primarily TV rather than movies, but yes, the timing would have made it difficult. At some point, you have to lock down the thing so that the music and everything will time out correctly.
