Lyrically Speaking - 2/26/25

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Wed Feb 26, 2025 7:28 am

The final Wild Wednesday game of the 2025 LSWE is open to the entire animal kingdom that hasn't been covered yet. Yes, this game is a veritable zoo full of critters... and I kept all of them within the titles of songs this time, so I'll expect that in your Krox as well. Good luck, and please slow down at the animal crossing...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. Okay, you think you got a pretty face
But the rest of you is out of place

2. But you had to have style get a gold tooth smile
Put a girl on the corner so you can make a pile

3. I'm a man (a man) without conviction
I'm a man (a man) who doesn't know

4. Remember what the dormouse said
Feed your head
Feed your head

5. You might wake up some mornin'
To the sound of something moving past your window in the wind
And if you're quick enough to rise
You'll catch a fleeting glimpse of someone's fading shadow
Out on the new horizon

6. Motion in the ocean
His air hose broke
Lots of trouble
Lots of bubble

7. Boom boom acka-lacka lacka boom
Boom boom acka-lacka boom boom

8. Oh, lawdy mama, those Friday nights
When Susie wore her dresses tight

9. But behind the chalet
My holiday's complete
And I feel like William Tell

10. Her name was Magill, and she called herself Lil
But everyone knew her as Nancy

11. They can't play baseball, they don't wear sweaters
They're not good dancers, they don't play drums

12. Yeah you got your dead cat and you got your dead dog
On a moonlight night you got your dead toad frog

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that has an animal (preferably not a cat, dog, horse or bird) in the title.

Fox On The Run - (The) Sweet (Just one of the greatest songs ever recorded.... though Mecca Radio plays the original UK version, which isn't as good as the US hit)

2. But you had to have style get a gold tooth smile
Put a girl on the corner so you can make a pile
Buffalo Stance - Neneh Cherry (Just one of the greatest hip hop songs ever recorded... which Mecca Radio unfortunately does not play)

3. I'm a man (a man) without conviction
I'm a man (a man) who doesn't know
Karma Chameleon - Culture Club

4. Remember what the dormouse said
Feed your head
Feed your head
White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane (I read in a Bathroom Reader that Grace Slick wrote this song while being locked in the bathroom by the rest of the band and forced to write something, anything....)

5. You might wake up some mornin'
To the sound of something moving past your window in the wind
And if you're quick enough to rise
You'll catch a fleeting glimpse of someone's fading shadow
Out on the new horizon
Elusive Butterfly - Bob Lind

6. Motion in the ocean
His air hose broke
Lots of trouble
Lots of bubble
Rock Lobster - B-52's

7. Boom boom acka-lacka lacka boom
Boom boom acka-lacka boom boom
Walk the Dinosaur - Was (Not Was) (Even Earl can sometimes learn fun facts from me... like that the group's name came from one of the member's son's tendency to say a word, and immediately follow it up with "NOT" that word...)

8. Oh, lawdy mama, those Friday nights
When Susie wore her dresses tight
Crocodile Rock - Elton John

9. But behind the chalet
My holiday's complete
And I feel like William Tell
Pulling Mussels (From A Parenthetical) - Squeeze (They were more than just "Tempted," a lot more....)

10. Her name was Magill, and she called herself Lil
But everyone knew her as Nancy
Rocky Raccoon - Beatles

11. They can't play baseball, they don't wear sweaters
They're not good dancers, they don't play drums
Fish Heads - Barnes and Barnes (Thank you Turkey Television, the forgotten show from Nickelodeon's golden age of the 80's....)

12. Yeah you got your dead cat and you got your dead dog
On a moonlight night you got your dead toad frog
Dead Skunk - Loudon Wainwright III
