Selena Gomez to Play Linda Ronstadt in New Biopic

The pop singer and “Only Murders in the Building” star teased the role Tuesday night by posting a picture of Ronstadt’s 2013 memoir “Simple Dreams” on her Instagram story.

The music biopic is currently in pre-production, with producers including Ronstadt’s manager, John Boylan, and James Keach, who produced the 2019 documentary “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice.”

No other casting has been announced.

I haven’t read anything about using real or dubbed vocals, but it would be a shame to not use Linda's real voice. This worked for Jessica Lange in the Patsy Cline biopic Sweet Dreams. No one sings like Patsy, so don’t even try. Same for Linda Ronstadt.

Selena’s speaking voice is not far off from Linda’s, so a little vocal coaching should do the trick.

Selena's speaking voice is the flattest, most nasal I've ever heard from a working actor, per a couple long interviews I've recently heard.

Linda's speaking style was & still is about a mile a minute, she's always been a nervous interviewee, but certainly not flat or nasal.
